Even though the ride is closed, does Disney still have the melodious howling still running? I really, really hope so. :hmghost:

What a cool question, cicelyalaska! Hopefully someone who has been quite recently can recall whether they heard the beast or not? I will be in WDW in 21 days and will try to listen for it myself.

HM was closed for a refurb during our trip in Nov 2005. While I am not 100%, I am pretty sure that I did not hear the howling as we stood in front for a pic.
My family and I arrive at WDW Friday, we will check for the howling at HM:hmghost:
Fort Wilderness 6/22/07-7/9/07 Can't wait
I would be surprised if you could still hear howling. But I really love that idea.
that would be cool if it still howled when the ride is closed, although something inside me is telling me that it isnt:(
A friend of mine went for the weekend and said he could not recall.
yeah i was there the other day and it didnt howl. however they have a huge gate right in front of the hm now with a nice little note about the refurb from master gracey. no real details on what they are doing just saying that they will back up and running this fall
The gate where the wall is at is too far away for you to even hear if they are playing the loop or not.
I went by yesterday afternoon and did not hear it.
But how cool that, through Intercot, we all just "heard" it...
Oh, yes. Just the thought of hearing the howling makes me hear it.
If I recall, this "howl" is very loud. I remember hearing it from across Seven Seas Lagoon at the Polynesian. The beach was very quiet and I heard it faintly. I thought to myself, "Oh wow, that sounds like the Haunted Mansion wolf howl". About two seconds later, I realized that it was!
Yes, you can hear the howl all over Liberty Square, into Frontierland over at Splash Mountain, and over the lagoon to the Polynesian when the wind is right. So if people are anywhere in Frontierland and they don't hear it, then the dog's not howling. :( Boohoo.
