Trading week through RCI
We are trying to trade a week through RCI to stay at one of the Disney Villas. Has anyone had any success in doing this? Also if you have, are you able to purchase Magic Your Way tickets and the dining plan just like if you were staying in a hotel room on disney property? Thanks for any info :) I love this site :mickey:

Yes, and yes.
I've booked twice, once at OKW and once at SSR, using RCI's website.
Once confirmed, I was able to work with DVC customer service to book Magic Your Way and dining plan.

Another question, how far in advance did you find out there was something available? We are hoping to go in December and still haven't heard anything yet:(

In December, I was able to book a week for this coming October. I strongly recommend an ongoing search so RCI does the match based on what you are looking for. I never did see what I wanted just by doing online searches, even when I got the match from the ongoing search.
For best results the ongoing search should have been started more than 11 months before the desired dates since that is the earliest DVC owners can book at resorts they own and RCI prioritizes matches based on order the ongoing searches are placed. There is another opportunity about 7 months before the reservation date, which is when resorts open to DVC owners that do not own at the particular resort.
Also, be sure your deposit has sufficient trading power (about 25 if I remember correctly).

I have an on-going search put in for November and they told me not to expect to hear until July. Like the previous poster stated, Disney releases in blocks once the booking hold window passes for owners.
Trading power was a big issue for us as the power for thanksgiving week was 25-28 and we had to combine our weeks to get in.

We have had an ongoing search going since January. I just combined points so now we have 26, hopefully this will be enough to secure a place. Thanks for all the advice. The RCI reps do not seem to be much help. They just tell you to go online and research. I had a hard time finding out how many points I would need for a Disney villa. Thanks to ya'll I finally got that important piece of info:) Maybe it is not too late and we will find a place. Thank ya'll so much once again.
