GAC-Information Please

I keep reading information about GAC. Two of my children have been recently diagnosed with muscular dystrophy (DD-10 & DS-12), plus my DD is on the Autism Spectrum. If you looked at my children you probably would not have known that anything was wrong but their muscles get tired and ache very easily. We are planning on going in March 2012 and I know it will be a busy time and I have been worried how they were going to tolerate it, especially the fact that they are too old for a stroller and therefore have to walk all over Disney. Can anyone give me more information about this card and how I can use it?

Since your kids have more of a stamina or endurance issue, Disney would recommend a wheelchair or special needs stroller for them. Instead of a GAC, you might want to look into pediatric wheelchairs. There are some out there that rent them, or a stroller for larger kids.

You might need a GAC for each kid, since they will only write one name per GAC. Go in and be honest about your kid's limitations and they will help you out.

You might also want to rent a wheelchair if you think stamina might be an issue.

The GAC accounts for mulitple people though as well (six I believe - will be reminded the 5th :) Anyway - it does also depends on their needs - no need to fret - just hit Guest Services your first trip to a park and get everything you need for whole stay - tell em what your kid needs - piece of cake - they are very cooperative and I have never had nothing but kindness from everyone - cast members all seem to be very knowledgeable with it now as well. Enjoy!

What I meant was, if both kids won't ride EVERYTHING the same way, you will need a GAC for each child in the party. I have two boys who both need a GAC. However, they each have certain rides they will not go on, and they are not the same rides. So, if we want to go with DS1 on a ride, and the GAC has his brother's name on it, no go. The CMs will ask the kid's name. I'm not into having my kids lie...

That's all I meant. Each child might need different type of accommodations, and if only one wants to ride, the GAC will reflect that child's accommodation.
