Mar. 20, 1948 – At the 20th Academy Awards, Disney won 2 Oscars for the film “Song of the South”, and the song “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah”, and actor James Baskette who played Uncle Remus also received awards.
Mar. 20, 1952 – Disney’s true life adventure short “Nature’s Half Acre” won an Oscar at the 24th Academy Awards.
Mar. 20, 1954 – Author Louis Sachar, whose 1998 best-selling children’s book “Holes” which would be made into a live action motion picture by Disney, was born in East Meadow, N.Y.
Mar. 20, 1957 – The Disney TV movie ”The Adventure Story” aired.
Mar. 20, 1958 – Actress Holly Hunter, the voice of Helen Parr/Elastigirl in the 2004 Disney/Pixar animated feature “The Incredibles,” was born in Conyers, Ga.
Mar. 20, 1959 – The Walt Disney Presents TV show aired episode 6 of “Texas John Slaughter: The Slaughter Trail.”
Mar. 20, 1981 – The Disney film, “Amy,” starring Jenny Agutter, Barry Newman, Kathleen Nolan, Chris Robinson, Lou Fant, Margaret O”Brien, and Nonette Fabray, was released.
Mar. 20, 1984 – Actress Christy Romano, the voice of Disney’s Kim Possible, was born in Milford, Ct. (In 2002 she would become the first person ever to act in 3 Disney Channel projects at the same time, “Even Stevens,” “Cadet Kelly,” and “Kim Possible.”)
Mar. 20, 1985 – The Alpine Haus Restaurant opened in Tokyo Disneyland.
Mar. 20, 1986 – Tokyo Disneyland welcomed its 30-millionth guest.
