Another question:

we can save about $350 if we take a 7pm flight home, instead of a $1pm flight home. That would mean that we would need to spend eight hours or so in either Port Canaveral or the airport on the day we go home.

If we go with Disney transfers -- do we have to go right from the ship to the airport, or can we schedule our transfer for late in the day??

Thanks.

We encounter the same problem and didn't have a flight til later that night when we got off the ship. IF you take the Disney bus, you will take that morning and go right to airport and then you are stuck there for the day. so what we did is rent a car for the day, and went to Space Kennedy Center for a few hours. Budget Car rental Agency has a shuttle from the Boat dock (2 miles from dock to agency)and got a mini van for $55.00 and no drop fee and then drop it off that same day at the airport, right on the aiport premesises. it was great!! Check into it!! graemlins/mickey.gif

We had the same situation in January. We were scheduled out around 6pm. We took the bus back to Orlando and tried to catch an earlier flight - and couldn't. ***** We then tried to check our baggage - and couldn't. ***** You can only check baggage for a flight that is leaving in 4 hours or less. We rented a mini van too (from Avis also) and it was right at $50 including taxes. So we headed over to Downtown Disney and spent the day looking around the shops and slowly letting ourselves return to reality.

Oh yea, getting through security at the Orlando airport is the absolute worse situation we have seen since 9/11. The line to get through was over an hour. They appear to have only 5 metal detectors for the ENTIRE airport. We flew around Christmas and New Years and did not have nearly that much of a wait at other airports.
