We gathered everyone up and walked back to Future World with time for a quick stop at Ice Station Cool. A couple of us (evil) veterans highly recommended checking out the BEST soda flavor- Beverly. hahaha http://www.intercot.com/boards/devil.gif - Those kids are so gullible some times http://www.intercot.com/boards/wink.gif. The boys made one of the scouts drink an extra large Beverly serving as "payback" for something he did earlier http://www.intercot.com/boards/wink.gif After everyone had their fill (good and bad)- we met our next instructor- Linda- at the Tip Board. This afternoon's program is called Synergy in Science and we will be learning about fiber-optics, 3-D, etc. The first attraction was Honey I Shrunk the Audience. Linda gave us an extra pair of 3-D glasses and told us to try a few things out before the show started. They were to see what happens when you look through the lenses with both pairs on. One eye, both eyes, the other eye and then the 2nd pair upside-down. They were also supposed to figure out how many projectors were in the theater. We all had fun watching the show. When it was over, we went into the back hallway of Pasta Piazza and she gave them some tools for an experiment. Using ropes and a few other things they were supposed to figure out how the 2 projectors (that was the correct number) made a 3-D image. Very cool. Now I get it http://www.intercot.com/boards/supergrin.gif. And it doesn't spoil the magic at all!!

From here we went into Innoventions for a short session. She had us in a small side "classroom" where we learned about fiber optics and lasers. They played a game transmitting messages with a flashlight. Some of the boys really got into the discussion about this topic- others were beginning to nod off a bit. Then, she let them send e-postcards from the IBM booth. A few of them did- but mostly they ganged up in the photo booths and made crazy faces, etc. Linda took us outside and we saw the fiber optic embedded sidewalks and she explained how they were made. My kids have always LOVED these twinkly lights at night. Now they feel empowered to know how it was done.

Next stop was Body Wars. They rode the ride (I sat this one out- now I'm glad I did http://www.intercot.com/boards/pukey.gif ) and then she took us backstage- UNDER the attraction to actually SEE the flight simulator and how it works. We got to see it during a show- all the movements it makes- WOW- it is INCREDIBLE how much that room moves. It is literally a "box" on hydraulics being shaken about. We even had a camera view of the inside of the theater. Unfortunately no one was riding at the time we watched. Let me tell you- when they say "Keep your seatbelt ON and do not get out of your seat for ANY reason" - they MEAN it- you WILL be thrown across the box!!! http://www.intercot.com/boards/eek.gif That was probably the most impressive "secret" I saw the whole week. The boys liked it- but I was totally amazed and impressed. By the way- the same flight simulator and motion sequence is also used in Star Tours. I have heard many people say they can ride Star Tours, but Body Wars is too rough (I'm in agreement there too). The reason Body Wars is rougher is because of the colors they use- reds and oranges are more upsetting to your system than the blues and blacks of Star Tours. Cool, huh?

At this point it was already 4:00pm and this program was over. Linda said goodbye to us and we met the rest of our group back at the (dry) fountain.

I really missed seeing the fountain this trip- but the local drought has turned off many of the fountains and non-mandatory water usage in the area.

We all hit Ice Station Cool again for more refreshments. The boys have now figured out that they can fill up their water bottles with their favorite flavor http://www.intercot.com/boards/tasty.gif
No one picked Beverly- I wonder why?

Next report- the evening adventures.

Great info. about Body Wars (I never ride it anymore either http://www.intercot.com/boards/pukey.gif )

That is too bad the fountain can't be on. It's one of my very favorite things there.

Another great report. Thanks!

While the Epcot fountain was on when I went in Feb, since the fires were just recently starting then, all of the fountains at my resort were off. http://www.intercot.com/boards/blue.gif

Thanks for another great report!
