Hammer- The Solo Tour- Day 5, pt. 1

Wednesday, May 23rd

Still me at WL!

Was planning to sleep in, but woke up at 7:10. Decided to see if I could make some of the early-entry at MGM. So, I was showered dressed and leaving for the bus stop by 8:25. I get to the bus stop and there were a bunch of unhappy people there. It seems that many of these people had been waiting over ½ hour for a bus as the first bus was filled before everyone got on and they did not send another bus right away. A bus did arrive at 8:30, so I was fortunate and did not have to wait long (I made sure everyone else got on first, though). So, I understand what people are saying about the buses.

Well, we arrive at MGM by 8:40. I figure, I would do RnRC first (no TOT this trip for me) and the wait time is already 25 minutes? So much for early entry. I get a fast pass for 9:45-10:45. I walk over to the Great Movie Ride, thinking I will not have any trouble getting on this ride. Wait time is 20 minutes! Oh, well, I am going to see if I can walk in for Millionaire (not holding out much hope as the time was 9:05). Well, I get there at 9:10 (got a little lost), and the CM says there is still room! Yay!! The set does look like the show (especially with the lighting). Did really bad on the fastest finger question
(I am not good with putting the zodiac signs in order). But pick up steam while answering the questions along with the guy in the hot seat. When he leaves, I am 3rd position. When the lady who replaces him leaves, I am still in 3rd position, but the game is done http://www.intercot.com/boards/reallymad.gif ! I pick up a fast pass for the 11:15 show. I can see I will be visiting this attraction often!

Well now is my fast pass time for RnRC. I go right to the preshow and then on to the ride. Once again, I get the songs “Back in the Saddle/ Dude Looks Like A Lady”. I am not complaining, as “Back in the Saddle” is one of my favorite songs. This ride is great, as usual! Well, I leave the gift shop, saying good bye to Steven, Joe (my favorite), and the boys until I see them in September in person. I have time before my 11:15 FP and I am not going to make the 10:15 show, so I decide to walk around a bit. I stop and buy a frozen lemonade (it was incredibly hot today) and think about where to go for lunch. I decide I would try the Brown Derby. I walk over and I obtain a PS for 12:00 and then wander over to the sweet shoppe (I forget the name of it). I decide I want one of the chocolate covered strawberries. While I am making my purchase, a couple of street performers come in and start doing their act. It is the New York couple circa 1950’s. They were absolutely hilarious!! I enjoy their show then move on. I go by to see if I can get on the Great Movie Ride, but the wait time is now 30 minutes!! Guess I will see that tomorrow. It is now fast pass time, so I walk over to the show and wait in the AC for 10 minutes before we are let in. I understand what people say that the beginning gets boring after the first time. I just want to play the game! Well, there was someone in the hot seat and I was # 6 when he finished. When this woman finished, I was #3. When the game ended, guess who was #1 http://www.intercot.com/boards/reallymad.gif http://www.intercot.com/boards/reallymad.gif!! I ran into Ian and his wife Trish after this game and we talked for a few minutes (Ian was #2 when the game ended) then parted ways, saying we will meet at 8:00 at the Cantina by Mexico. Then it was time for lunch. I have found my new place for lunch at MGM! I absolutely loved my Cobb Salad and my Bombay Sapphire (Gin) and Tonic. The salad was huge and filled me up and my drink was made well (if you drink Gin and Tonics, you know that they can be bad if you have too much of 1 ingredient or a bad tasting tonic water) . I didn’t feel hungry after the salad, but the waiter mentioned key lime crème brulee and I could not resist. It was delicious and probably my favorite dessert of the whole vacation http://www.intercot.com/boards/tasty.gif http://www.intercot.com/boards/tasty.gif !!

After lunch, I decide to go back to the room as MGM was just too crowded. I made a note that I will stick to my original rule and not got to a park on its EE day. I decide I will go to Epcot after my rest, but do not make PS before I nap (this will prove interesting later).

I agree, MGM was VERY crowded that day. We were there for the Inside Animation tour and we left there as soon as the tour was over. I probably saw you walk by from the bus stop as we were waiting next to the bus kiosk for our tour to begin. Of course, I wouldn't have recognized you! http://www.intercot.com/boards/wink.gif

We had hoped to meet up with you and Wacky for Illuminations that evening, but we ended up at DD instead. Maybe next meet! Enjoying your reports! Keep 'em coming! http://www.intercot.com/boards/supergrin.gif

I was doing a solo visit at MK the same day and it was relatively dead, but that was ok by me. <grin>

Did I miss a meet or something!? Sounds like a lot of folks were there, and I even had my Intercot shirt on... Just didn't know there'd be others there.

See ya!

That's the problem if you enter a park at the latter end of Early Entry - by that time all the EE attractions are jammed. You're right - you're better off avoiding that park unless you can be there prior to gate opening.

You are eating at all of my favorite places! http://www.intercot.com/boards/smile.gif We love the Derby and especially the Cobb Salad. I have never been able to find any restaurant that can make it like the Derby does. http://www.intercot.com/boards/tasty.gif

Thanks for another great report - I am enjoying them very much! http://www.intercot.com/boards/smile.gif
