I am thinking about a fireworks cruise at EPCOT. I know they are a little pricey, but I would imagine it would be unforgettable. Has anyone been on one?

OH YEAH!!!! We've done it several times and it's wonderful!

We usually get picked up at the Y & B Club or the Boardwalk and then they ride you around in the boat for a while... just about 5 minutes before the show is to start you ride up to the bridge between France & England and you get a great view of the show.

I personally wouldnt do it cause you are right underneath the bridge near the International Gateway. There is like 100 people directly above you.. Last time we were there, a family was doing the cruise and had a birthday cake for their daughter. Everyone on the bridge kept asking for a piece of the cake... (kinda funny..but not for them)

Way too many people staring at you...Dropping stuff on you, etc.

I've done it with my family. I forget how much it cost though. The view was great and our driver was the best. He picked us up at the Boardwalk, we drove around for a while and he was throwing out Disney trivia questions. We learned a lot from him. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Last year we did the MK fireworks cruise. I think it cost $120 for a pontoon boat. I don't remember how many people it holds.

The cruise is not availabe on a "per person" basis. You rent the entire boat regardless of how many people there are in your party up to the maximum the pontoon boat will hold. For example, if the boat holds 7 people, you pay for 7 people even if there are only 3 in your party.

The MK fireworks cruise are GREAT! Depending on the time of "Fantasy in the Sky" the pilot usually gives you a terrific spot to see the Electrical Water Pagent. Its well worth the price of the charter.

I did both 'cruises' two years ago, The Fireworks cruise @ MK and the Illuminations @ Epcot.

Honestly have to say the the Illuminations cruise is something I will never forget! We went all out and did the food and champagne since it was our anniversary. The view was fantastic and our captain was terrific. He wanted to spend the entire night waiting on us and he shared so many interesting facts and tales with us.

The Fireworks cruise at MK we did the same way. It was very nice but there was just something very special about the Illuminations cruise. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I must stress the importance of calling exactly 90 days in advance to reserve your fireworks cruise if you decide on doing it. We are going at the end of September and I called last week (about 65 days before our trip) to reserve a boat for Illuminations. They are completley booked for all 6 days we are there. The guy on the phone said that approximately 95% of available boats are reserved on the very first day (90 days in advance) and all are reserved by the end of the second day. Either they are very popular or they just don't have many boats. So remember to call exactly 90 days in advance.

Can the Fireworks cruise leave from the Grand Floridian? What time will the Fireworks be on the MVMCP nights? We're hoping to do V&A for our Anniversary on December 7th and a fireworks cruise afterwards would be wonderful! Who do I call to find ot more about this?

Ditto.... we usually call on the 90 day mark, but we didn't this year... Even though we're going in sloooow season, there was nothing available... If you want to do it, call at exactly 90 days out. I won't make this mistake again...

So even though Illuminations is at Epcot, you don't necessarily have to plan the cruise on your Epcot day because you leave and return from outside Epcot.

I'm thinking of doing this on one of our NON-Epcot days. What are folks opinion on this?

Thanks! http://www.intercot.com/boards/smile.gif

Actually, this is what we normally do... we'll have dinner at the Yachtsman or at Cape May... or you could eat at one of the Boardwalk restaurants... and then just get picked up at the dock.

Cool! If you opt to have food on the boat, is it enough for dinner or just finger foods?

You can have as much food as you want... you're paying for it. Basically, you pay for the cruise as one payment, and then if you want anything else, like drinks or food, that's a separate charge.... also be aware that you can take stuff on the boat with you... we usually take a bottle of champange or sparkling cider and we ask Disney to provide glasses for us. They'll provide the glasses at no charge...

Sorry, I haven't been able to get to the boards for a while...

Basically it's a catered affair... when you make your reservation you can let them know what you'd like, and you can ask the prices. I'd imagine it's ala carte, and would be pretty expensive, but I understand you can have a full meal if you choose... I'm also guessing that there are several resort restaurants they use, so that might be a starting point for choices... I'd also imagine that since Disney is so accommodating, you could pretty much get whatever you wanted, as long as you were willing to pay for it...

Sorry I couldn't be more detailed, but my only experience is from the guide books... (well, aside from actually taking drinks aboard the boat myself... and they are really good about providing glasses... I usually call to confirm that they'll be there, and they have always been so far...)

Have a great time!

OK - I'm confused. I called WDW-PLAY and asked if I could "BYOB" and they said no. I could only purchase their's.

Which is it?

We did the "Party Boat" last year for Illuminations. It was great! It was a boat that held up to 12 people. I know they have a smaller one. We had an Anniversary cake, chips, pretzels, sodas, and bottled water. The boat was neatly decorated with streamers and balloons. The cost of the whole thing was $240.00, but it was a great memory! Our view was right under the bridge and people did tease us about the cake but the view of Illuminations was fantastic!
