Has anyone taken the Caring for Giants tour at AK? Is it worth the money? Thinking about scheduling for vacation in May. It would be myself, my DH and my 15 yo DS.

We did this tour within the last year, and it was a lot of fun. It's not very long, but it was very educational - and there is a great view of the elephants. The cast member who met us at the observation area was awesome - she had lots of interesting information and answered questions the whole time. We got some great photos. We didn't get THAT close to the elephants - but at the AK, you really can't get close to the elephants without being on the moving tour truck.

It didn't hurt that there was an elephant 'toddler' out on the exhibit when we did the tour - that was probably the best part of the tour! That elephant is still young and entertaining if you go in May! Hope you get the chance to enjoy the elephants - they are amazing animals.

I did this last year, and sadly it was just OK the morning I did it. AK is my favorite park, and I really expected to love this tour. However, the elephants weren't very "cooperative" the morning I was there-they just hung out in a corner pretty far away. I imagine that how active the elephants are would make a huge difference. Also, the CMs told us all about illegal poaching in their country-while interesting, I'd really hoped to get tidbits about the elephants at AK-their names, ages, how long they'd been in the park, stories about them, etc. The best part was that although I'd missed my tour (issues with the Disney buses, so it took 1 3/4 hours to get to AK), they booked me on the next tour.
