The Walt Disney Company is expanding Mickey's on-going 90th Birthday celebration beyond the berms of their parks.

A Nestle Spokesperson recently announced the following regarding a out-of-park offering of Disney's Mickey Ice Cream Bars:

We are excited to confirm that the Mickey Ice Cream bars will be available in stores for a limited time.

A release date nor pricing have been confirmed; however, it has been reported that the iconic ice cream will be sold by Nestle in 6 bar boxes. The offering will reportedly be a "limited edition" and feature special packaging celebrating Mickey's 90th birthday.

Has anyone found these yet? I searched Walmart yesterday without any luck.

It seems a few cities may have received an early shipment.

None at my local national chains, yet.

I wonder if they have less carbs if you get them in the store vs. Disney.... jk;)

Since the bars in the store are physically smaller, I guess they would have less carbs....LOL Just means you have to eat two rather than one!! ("Take two, they're small[er]!!")

Found them today at my local Kroger's priced at $7.49 for the box of 6 bars.

Should be at any semi-national or national chain that carries the Nestle brand, look where the other Nestle brand ice cream novelties are.

So thoughts on the Mickey 90th Ice Cream Bars vs the Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars.

5192

Taste wise, I'd say the 90th version is more overpowered by the Chocolate flavor while the Premium version is more balanced.

Size wise, the 90th version is smaller than the Premium version.

Ingredient wise, the 90th version is made with Skim Milk ice cream and a Cocoa & Chocolate based Coating while the Premium version is made with a MilkFat/Non-Fat Milk blend ice cream and Bitter Chocolate & Cocoa Butter based coating.

Overall, the 90th version isn't bad and it adds a bit of a Disney touch to your dessert, but I would personally say there is a reason why they dropped the word 'premium' from the name.

I found them in Fry's. I love chocolate, so I'm okay with less vanilla ice cream. I bought two boxes. I was tempted to buy all of them, but I didn't want anyone else shopping later than I was to be disappointed. It was kind've hard to find them. Luckily, the nestle guy was there restocking and took us right to them. :)

Their chocolate really wasn't very chocolatey and the portions were tiny.

Still waiting for them to make it up to Central NY! I will buy one box just for the fun of it.

Does anyone else remember the ones they used to sell in the 70s when only the ears were
dipped in chocolate but the face was vanilla with eyes, noes and mouth?

It seems they even had them a little later than that, as I seem to remember.

That or I've seen pictures of them and made a false memory. :D :bar:

Was this only at Disney World? My parents have a picture of me about 3 years old (would have been in the 70s) eating a Mickey Bar in Disneyland, and it looks like it is completely chocolate. It would be cool to give my granddaughter one with a face though.

Heading to the grocery store this morning. Fingers crossed that they'll have them! I think this is the only time I've ever been excited about going to the grocery store.

My local Target has started to carry them. I had one last night and I thought it was pretty good! It's smaller and lighter than the one you get at the parks, but seeing as how I can make an entire meal out of those Mickey bars, having this "at home" version for dessert was great. It cost $7.29 for a box of 6. I may have to get another box after my kiddos discover these in the freezer!

I bought 3 boxes and tried to hide them in the deep freezer. I was unsuccessful.

STILL nothing at our local Meijer. They have the soup, the waffles, and other 90th stuff, but no ice cream bars so far.

I don't mind the downsizing, but unless they're the same formula as the ones in the parks, I'll pass. Now where's my ice cream sandwich?

What are the chances that they will be such a big hit that Disney will sell them in stores forever?

I asked at Guest Services if they were restocking and they said it was a one time shipment.

After stalking his Nestle distributor for what felt like months, my husband's store (Wegmans) finally got these in March. They've been well stocked since then. I'm surprised to see they are being marked down and places are getting final shipments already, because they have been selling like crazy. In fact, the reason why it took longer than expected to reach some stores was because they underestimated demand and the factories had to switch over some of their production lines to meet the order demands for the Mickey bars. We love them at our home. Of course they aren't exactly the same, but I wouldn't expect that from a grocery store novelty item. We will be sad if they discontinue them so soon.
Speaking of Mickey novelties, I also remember the ice cream face with the chocolate ears, as well as Mickey's Parade ice pops. Wish they would bring those back!

I found four boxes at Fry's this morning. I was too short to reach them, but the manager was quick to get all four of them for me. I'm glad no mickey bar loving tall people came through while I was waiting lol.

We finally have them at Giant Eagle. I have purchased several boxes...and I am hoping to get several more. Totally meets the need (while not the same), it is close enough for bw visits to bbn out that Disney grid. On our faces.

I too remember the Mickey faced bars - loved those too.

They're already $2 off at Meijer, but the shelf was empty today.
