Wilderness Cabins vs. AoA

I'm still trying to decide between the Wilderness Cabins and Art of Animation. Its going to be me, my DH, my 2 year old DD and my dad. I love the cabin because it has the small kitchen but I also love the theme of AoA. Can you guys give me your experience at either one? I've never stayed at either, always the Pop Century. Thanks!

I've stayed in the cabins but never at Art of Animation. I did, however, visit Art of Animation a couple years back when my brother stayed there. I love the cabins but, keep in mind, that unless you are driving your own vehicle, you will need to take two forms of transportation everywhere you go - an internal bus and then a transfer to another park bus or boat - reverse on the way home. the full kitchen is very nice if you plan on eating at home.

Given that you have your dad with you, you might like that Art of Animation had two bathrooms - at least in the room my brother had. In addition to the bedroom, there was a pull out couch and a pull down bed in the main room.

I think it depends what you're looking for/hoping for in your resort. AoA is a great resort, with has a good food court, great pools and a cute theme. It is busy though, and only one "real" bed.

The cabins are quieter and more private. You could have your little family in the bedroom, and your dad on the pull out couch. There is only one bathroom though. Cooking is much more possible in the cabin.

You can't go wrong with either! What we do is stat at the Fort, and visit AoA for lunch or dinner one day. :)

Thanks for the help. I have a feeling I can't go wrong with either. Looking at the AoA though, it looks more fun and kid friendly for my DD. Do you know if the sofa bed or murphy bed are comfortable?

Are you thinking about the family suites at AoA or just a regular room?

I was referring to the family suites which is where my brother stayed and I visited. I never slept in either the murphy bed or the sleeper sofa. I know my daughter and her friend who shared the murphy bed on one visit never complained about comfort.

That was exactly my thought. I think my DD would love the splash pad and all the large characters. Thank you everyone!

I used to be a strong advocate for AoA, but not so much any more. This past trip was not so good. Art was busy, dirty and the food court was sub-par .... we have been using Art the last few trips due to our group growing in numbers, with Arts' suites fitting our needs .. now .... well, I'll save a bit extra and head back over to Riverside .... but, if you're asking to pick between a Cabin and Art ... I'd say a cabin ....

We were at AoA last month (our 4th stay there!) and really love staying there. Our children are all adults/teens so it's great to have 2 bathrooms. Our older son (29) has slept on the table/murphy bed several times and says it is more comfortable than many hotel beds he's slept in. I've never actually slept on that bed but I've lounged on it just to try it out and it seemed comfortable to me. Our kids also have no complaints about the sofa bed but say they would choose the murphy bed over the sofa bed if given the choice. I actually find the queen bed in the master bedroom to be way too firm for my liking. I usually fold up an extra blanket from mousekeeping and use it as a pillow top for the mattress. For our stay last month, I brought a foam egg crate mattress topper and used that...but it wasn't enough. So I asked mousekeeping if they happened to have foam mattress toppers. They do!!! So they put one on our bed on top of the one I had already put on and that was much better! I will say that I saw some old mattresses on a cart outside our building while we were there so it appears as though they're changing out at least some of the mattresses -- though our first stay at AoA was about 8 months after it opened and I didn't like the mattress then either.

Well that is nice to know because my hubby has back issues and if the bed is too hard for him, maybe that could be an option. Thanks for the tip!
