Greetings!

Quite some years ago--as it had to be, since this program ended...well...quite some years ago--we purchased several commemorative bricks near Magic Kingdom Park and one right next to the Polynesian Resort. We have the numbers, but is there anyway to locate them without blindly looking for like numbers? The one at the Polynesian is easy because it's right next to a blank brick, but the others are like just taking shots in the dark to find them. (Amazingly, even after years away, I can walk right to our Millennium tile at Epcot's Leave a Legacy.)

Thank you!

Mark

Slightly unrelated but it's a shame they stopped doing these so long ago. I remember seeing them on my first trip in 1998 (I was 8) and wondering about them, but leaving it at that. If they were available now I would buy one in a heartbeat!

I wish they would continue the walkway all the way to the Grand Floridian. I would totally buy a brick along that pathway.

Like everyone else, I am jealous that we started going to Disney after this program ended, so no bricks in our family.

From what I've heard, Guest Relations at MK (the one outside the park) has a map, and can help you find your brick, without hours of walking around looking at the ground. Good Luck!

We would definitely buy another! We bought one after our first child arrive but now have two more that aren't happy that they didn't make the cut.

Well, it'll be Shady Pines Ma- the other two kids.

I'm afraid that blindly looking for the numbers is the only way to go now. There used to be a little kiosk near the MK entrance where they'd look it up and either draw you a map to show you just where your brick was or they'd come out and help you find it. Not anymore though! But I'm not complaining-I don't know about you but when we bought our brick there was a guarantee that they'd be there for "at least 10 years". Since we bought our brick in 1994, shortly after the program started, I figure we're on "free" time now.

Wow...your brick will be 25 years old next year. Time flies!

In other news I've seen bricks all over the place where people have brought Sharpie markers and MADE THEIR OWN. How awful is that?! I can't believe the nerve of people.

Some of the bricks get worn down and it's hard to even read the names anymore. I wonder if your brick gets worn down, will they replace it for free?

Seriously! That's so ridiculous and selfish.

The quick answer is no. The last sale was in 2000 and they now have no obligation to display any brick. They have replaced bricks in the past when work Disney did damaged bricks but they don’t have any contractual obligation to do that now and could just remove it. Normal wear and tear is not something they would do something about.

When they wear down enough, Disney will start selling them again like DVC. You pay for it to begin with and then pay a maintenance fee every year. Then at the end of your contract, it isn't yours any more.

This was one expense I was happy we did... I have lost the number of our brick but next trip I plan to track it down. Also bought the legacy tile and need to find that too.

:joy:

I was at Magic Kingdom yesterday and actually was looking at some of the bricks. They were, for the most part, so faded that you couldn’t read the names. Another disappointment brought to you by Disney.

Sadly, when I was at the MK today, I looked for our brick and it seems that it's no more. It looks like they rebuilt the walkway, and took out some of the bricks including ours. However, the brick could still be there. As the above poster said, so many of the bricks are so worn and unreadable I'm not sure if aone that seemed blank was ours.

Oh please, Disney has not purposely made them fade and there was no perpetual maintenance contract. It was a 10 year contract and since the last one was bought in 2007 so none are under contract now. People got the 10 years they paid for and that’s all they could expect. The disappointment would be from unreasonable expectations not Disney.
