Hello fellow Intercoters,

Long time NO post here, but I am here many times a month reading the boards.

My family of 5 will be flying into Sanford Airport at the end of July for 5 nights. We are staying on property, and I was wondering what ideas you guys might have for transportation to and from Sanford.

We are wondering if renting a car for the day each way, so two separate rentals would be best? Or is there a shuttle service that is recommended? Or any other ideas someone may have.

If rental car, is there a company that is most economical?

Thank you,

Iowamouse

Your options are limited from that airport. Sometimes, it is less expensive to rent a car for the entire trip than to rent two cars for one day each - price out the options. Look at which rental car companies are available at that airport and then take a look at their rates for both the length of time and two one way trips. You also need to be sure you have a drop off and pick up location at the Disney World side.

Also look at Quicksilver - an Intercot sponsor who provides transportation to and from area airports. You may find that cost effective.

I have only used Aloma and have been satisfied with vehicle and price. On my next trip, I am also flying into Sanford/Orlando. I am renting a car for the transportation to my Disney Resort. There are about (3) three locations on DISNEY property to return the car and they all have a Shuttle to return you and to come pick you up on your return trip. Very convenient . Fly in, get car. Drive to store for provisions, drive to Resort, unpack and then drive to Car Care Center and they will take me back OR to other site on DISNEY Property. Return Trip, just the opposite.

We used Quicksilver when we flew to Sanford and were staying at Caribbean Beach. It's a longer ride than from MCO but we had great service and a very prompt and friendly driver. Wouldn't hesistate to use them again!

Ads usually show in the last post of the discussion.

If you can fit into a smallish rental car that may be your best option. I think it may be less expensive to rent if for the whole week as faline suggested. One way rentals are almost always expensive.

Also given that the bus service at Disney appears to be on the decline you may want to drive to the parks.
