It is possible to change the band once you have ordered it? for example can my kids swap colors? Suddenly my youngest son HATES the color we ordered for him.

I believe that you can change the order up to 12 days before. After you have received them you could buy a different one

There is a date posted on your My Disney Experience by which you need to complete your band order. Up until that point, you can change the order as many times as you'd like.

We already have the bands. :( When he saw it he said he wouldn't wear it. :rub: Yes, he is a young teen.

There are a couple of (fairly) easy options ... he could decorate it (we always get MB "stickers" for ours), tell the resort that he lost it and get a grey one instead, or, the new MB "pop" out in the middle, so if a sibling would also like to mix and match, it could be a cool look, or the middle can go into a lanyard, or clip.

He could also use some of his souvenir money to buy another one once he gets to Disney.

I am wondering if I can switch the bands when we check in? Use the bands we have now, but switch which bands are assigned to which child?

I don't think they can switch the bands but they may have a plain grey one they can give you for your son. Another option might just be to ask for a key card for him at at check in.

He may be interested in purchasing a new one when you get there. They always have really cool themed ones available. Last trip my hubby bought a Limited Edition Haunted Mansion one that turns the HM Fastpass light purple instead of green. They have a bunch with different characters and themes. (Star Wars, etc.) Just bring his old one to the store, and when you purchase the new one, the cast member will electronically link it.

Assuming the kids are in the same room, have the same type of ticket and have the same FPs booked, then just swap bands. Until they enter the park for the first time and their finger scan is attached to their ticket, the bands are completely interchangeable as far as Disney is concerned. They're not physically attached to a person except for park entry.

So just have the kids swap bands and proceed as normal.

I was thinking too. Only thing is they would be recognized by the other's name which may be problematic for the teen in question.

Hmmm. Thanks for all your good ideas. We have the old magic bands for four of us because we had a trip planned for over a year ago that got postponed. Then we added two kids. I am expecting to get their magic bands very soon (I hope!! since we are leaving Friday.) I guess theirs will be different from ours. The point being my son's does not have a pop out piece. That would have been cool. I hate the thought of paying more money to buy a new one, but I guess that is an option? Can the store sync it up even though it is the old magic band? Do the old magic bands still work? I have planned out everything in such detail and now I am stressing out!

Depending on how old they are (as they do have a life span), old magic bands should still work. If you purchase one, they will definitely help you connect it to your account.

Is the old band still in your My Disney Account, linked to the child in question, and still listed as active? That will help determine if you can use the old band.

You may already have this information, but the center piece doesn't pop out unless unscrewed. I read that a small screwdriver comes with the accessory pack (in case you don't already have one small enough). Just an FYI so you're as prepared as possible. :)

You should probably call Disney and check on the Magic bands. We got our magic bands at least a month and a half before we left for Disney.

When did you book your trip? If you are leaving on Friday, you should have your Magic Bands already unless you booked recently (within the past 2 weeks).

You may want to go into your MDE account and check to see if they have been shipped. If they have, you will want to check the mailing address you have in there.

You can inquire about another band at check in. However, if they do give you a replacement, it will be gray and it will not be personalized.

A little off topic, but if you are DVC members, the primary owner's band should cause a light purple light instead of green any time it is scanned. That is supposed to cue the CM to say "Welcome Home". The first time mine came up purple, I thought there was some kind of problem with the band, but the CM explained what caused it.
