How would you compare/contrast the Hoop Dee Doo Revue to The Whispering Canyon?

We enjoy music shows but the WC was what we called unorganized chaos (didn't like it). Is it "worth" 2 dining credits?

Also, do you know what substitutes HDD makes for Gluten Free guests?

We love the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. It is a stage show. They do pick people from the tables up front to participate but we thought it was very well done. I have not been to Whispering Canyon so I can not compare. I do think it is worth the 2 credits. As for Gluten Free substitutes you could probably call and talk with someone about it. I know that all the restaurants on Disney property try their best to accomadate guests.

Whispering Canyon is only one table service credit. We have never been to Hoop de Doo but I can tell you that our experience at WC in November was not as much fun as it previously was. The servers did not engage the crowd as much as they used to.

Whispering Canyon is a single TS entitlement, its very similar to the 50's Prime Time Diner at Hollywood Studios, where the servers engaqe to various degrees with your dining experience. They are not planned shows, although they have "go to" lines and schticks that they may perform. They are both designed to "brighten" and make fun your dining experience. Whispering Canyon is ok, I don't know that I'd ever go there simply for the entertainment of the servers.

We did the HDDR once, found the food and show to be pretty good. If you are doing it thru the dining plan I believe it still counts as 2 TS entitlements. I think its fun to do once, although I don't know that I'd put it way up on my top things to see and do.

I don't think you can really compare the two. Honestly I don't like either. We go to Disney for our kids but we pick the "Dining" for the adults. I don't like to be "harassed" at mealtimes when I have spent a whole day in the heat and crowds. I like the food at WCC but for me it just isn't worth it to deal with the shenanigans.

Hoop De Doo is a fun show but I don't think it's worth two dining credits. It isn't that great and you can get a similar meal somewhere else. However, I think my opinion is in the minority. Almost all my other Disney friends love it. I don't like O'Hana either (gasp) so I don't think I have the same taste as most Disney goers.

I am clearly missing out because 90% of the places we like to eat I was able to book with less than 30 days notice. We tend to prefer Boma, Sanaa, The Captain's Grille, and The Grand Floridian Cafe. Those are my top four!

Hoop Dee Doo is well worth the 2 credits. The food is your basic fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, etc., and the entertainment is great. We laugh from the beginning of the show until the end. As for gluten free substitutes - whatever they serve at Trails Ends can be served at the show. You just have to ask. Since my kids don't eat beans, we substitute it with the mac n cheese. As for Whispering Canyon - we generally always stay at the Lodge and we never eat there. It's not one of our favorites for food and don't think the "entertainment" is entertaining.

WCC is loud. Really loud. If you want a really loud experience, go there.

I'd choose HDD over WCC, but I've only done it once. If I were to go again, I would not sit in the least expensive tier again.

Another option, if you did not want to spend as much on HDD, would be Trails End Buffet. It's right next door to HDD and I've read dinner foods are similar. I have never done dinner there, but breakfast is so good and it's only one credit.

My family of four will be down this July and utilizing the DDP. We are booking the Hoop Dee over the WCC. We have not seen the show in over ten years and were at WCC about three years ago. When I asked the family to decide they all chose  Hoop Dee for something different. We are going to the 6PM show.

I agree that if the rest seem too chaotic or too much toward dinning credits, then I'd certainly say Trails End is a perfect alternate ... the buffet is always good and they do not have the shenanigans

We ate at Trails End our first night at Disney in November. It was the first time we had tried it and we will definitely go back. The food was way better than WCC.

We had a great first experience at WC a few years ago, but were not as pleased when we returned two years later. The food seemed more mediocre and the staff was not as engaging.

As for HDD, I've gone several times throughout the years since the 80s and I feel it's worth the credits/money. It's more of an every other trip type of dinner, but the food is good and it keeps both the kids and adults entertained.

I think HDDR without a doubt. Due to consistently mixed reviews of Whispering Canyon we have never eaten there. That being said, HDDR has never disappointed even when we had 17 people with multiple picky eaters. A great Whispering Canyon meal seems quite dependent on the server with the food being pretty mediocre.

We are going there in November as part of celebrating our 30th anniversary. It is an expensive dinner show, but one that everyone should experience once. This will be our 5th time. If you love corny jokes, you will love the show. The food i found to be very good, and I'm a food snob. My wife had special food needs and they took good care of her. I just love the ribs, and the fried chicken is good too. I can't remember the sides, but they were good. You get all you can drink sangria or lite beer if i am correct. I love the former, dislike the latter. The dessert is out of this world and part of the show. If you have never seen it, and the above description sounds good to you, then do it. I don't think you will be disappointed. Just allow plenty of time to get there. We used a cab in the past. Uber is now a choice. You still need to take a buss to Pioneer hall once you get dropped at the front.

If possible I would plan my HDDR night on a Magic Kingdom day so you can take the boat over to Ft. Wilderness. The dock is a very short walk from Pioneer Hall and you don't have to worry about any buses.
