Great attitude! You should still be able to have a good trip.

We just stayed at CBR in Feb and received the email notifying us about the construction at the resort. We ended up in the Aruba section, but truly did not notice any construction. No gift card was offered to us, so maybe they are doing more there, now. But again, it did not interfere with our time there at all.

FYI Today they cancelled giving out the gift cards... GRRRRRRRR
Yet we were told late last week they would be given out there until early 2018.

So are they cancelling the gift cards completely or just not issuing any further ones to new bookings? There has been so many changes to this it is almost ridiculous. I know one TA who had a client receive $150/night (2 adults in 1 room at $75 per person n per night) and others receiving just $75/night/room.

We were told yesterday at time of booking that they are no longer offering them. I would hope they would honor people who booked earlier... but I cant be sure.

We were also told the refurb will be faster and that they wouldnt be closing down the food court etc now? So Iam left wondering what is going on there? No discount for our booking we have to wait and see what summer promos come...

I question this...I can understand being ahead of schedule but unless the major items are reopened by the time of your booking I'm not sure I would stay there without compensation. Unless of course, CBR is uour favorite and a must stay for you. Perhaps calling and speaking to another CM and push for an answer/more info if it directly affects your booking.

I booked for Memorial Day weekend last week and was told I would get the gift cards ($75 per night). Wendy at Magical Journeys told me that they stopped offering them to all bookings made after 3/19. I am still supposed to get it because I booked before but I don't think I'll really be sure until we get there.

Today we got an email stating the food court will in fact be closed and they are offering a buffet for $15-$34 per person for breakfast and dinner. When I asked if they would have mickey waffles they said most likely not... :(

Sis just booked a room. Was not offered any discount or gift card. She was told dining was grab and go. :shake:

We're staying!!! :mickey: :mickey: :mickey:

We have been CBR fans since our first (of many, many, many) stays in 1989. During our most recent vacation in February 2017, we booked a 2-week vacation for August 2017. This was prior to the announcement of the upcoming construction, etc. I won't go into a lengthy discussion of my thoughts on all of the new changes coming; all I will say is - we are looking forward to our next stay at CBR. The thought of switching to another resort was never considered. Yes, we may miss the fact that OPR will be closed during our trip, but the proposed food/beverage options sound great. Instead of our usual afternoon breaks when we typically return to the resort for some relaxing time at OPR, our afternoon breaks in August will be spent resort hopping and eating meals at many of our favorite WDW places (both TS and CS locations).

Yes, we are some of those people who love the fact that CBR is so spread out, that we can always take a nice leisurely walk around barefoot bay, that we can always find nice peaceful, relaxing, quiet places to relax, etc., etc. And, yes , they do exist and in areas away from the proposed construction. :cloud9:

The "refurb" of OPR will result in the 3rd look for Centertown since CBR opened; my only wish is that the newly refreshed OPR will continue to have the island look and atmosphere and CBR will still be our island paradise away from home.

Cost aside, I don't know why you'd want to risk your vacation at CBR at this time. I'd seriously look at other options. If they aren't giving significant discounts then I'd be out.

For those staying, why?

We are looking at Disney Springs hotels. Do they have their own buses to the parks? Do you still use magic bands? We'd really rather stay at POP. I don't understand why toddlers are considered another person in your room. We can't afford 2.

I'm sure they count the toddlers for a) firecode reasons and b) why not. Its in their interest financially to count them.

I guess I will just forget it. That's at least another $600, no food court, another ticket for someone who is too small to ride most attractions and the flight is more expensive than last year. We've heard they are buses from DS hotels and we've heard there aren't.

Cost is not the issue, and we're definitely not risking our vacation. We happen to enjoying CBR and are satisfied with the alternative dining/beverage options that will be available.

If you read my previous message carefully, you'll have the answer to your question.
