Hey there...me again with more Aulani questions as we get closer. In traveling from the Honolulu Airport to Aulani what is the best place to stop for groceries on the way? I see there are a couple Safeway's and a Target and a Walmart along the way, but are the later "Super" stores that have both food and clothing/home goods? My kids are probably looking for basics like cereal, granola bars, chips and drinks, but are there any Trader Joe's type equivalents along the way? Lastly, in my map search I see an Akamai Grocery & Delivery? Has anyone ever used them or an equivalent? I'm expecting groceries to be high in Hawaii but I'm guessing groceries plus delivery is probably outrageous? Thanks all!

There is a fairly new, very nice Walmart close to Aulani. The address is 91-600 Farrington Hwy, Kapolei, HI 96707. We usually stop there multiple times for groceries and souvenirs. My sister has lived in Hawaii for about 12 years now, and they will drive out to that Walmart to shop for groceries. I find most of the grocery stores to be expensive. I can't imagine what grocery delivery service would be...way overpriced I'm sure. I would expect to pay about 1/3 more, sometimes even twice as much as what we have on the mainland. There are a couple of Whole Food Stores, but super expensive. I don't really know of any Trader Joe type places...Hawaii is such an expensive place that most everywhere is going to be pricey. There is also a nice Target at Kapolei Commons, along with TJ Maxx and Ross. Both that Target and Walmart are about 10-15 minute drive from Aulani. Very close, and very convenient. We usually buy most of our souvenirs at that Walmart. Over the years I've found that Aulani has about doubled the prices in its gift shops. Its outrageous. If you have a car, it's worth the drive over to that Walmart. It really is right off the highway to Aulani, and super convenient.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll look for that Walmart. We can't wait!

Another option for a day or two is the acai bowls at the grocery store right across the street (same shopping area as Monkey Pod). Absolutely fell in love with these. The store also has a take out kitchen in the back with decent offers for the price.

We hit the Walmart a couple exits down the highway and did well. The prices were reasonable. We did okay for the week with dining. The highlights were Makahiki character breakfast buffet and the Thanksgiving buffet. Makahiki was better than an other Disney character dining we've ever done. Additionally, the Thanksgiving buffet was also excellent and the live music was a real treat. It will be hard to top that Thanksgiving.
