:(
We were really hoping to see the Star Wars Fireworks show at HS while we were there. I have been holding off on buying Halloween Party tickets so that I can coordinate them around the show. Looks like there are not any scheduled after 9/4. The CM I talked to said its a possibility, but as of right now its not booked. DH will be so disappointed. Hes not a WDW lover as much as I am, but he was very much looking forward to this. They did extend AK a few more hours while we are there (9/28-10/2) so maybe there is hope!
Fingers crossed!

Yeah, it seems to me that this year more so than any previous year, they are waiting until the last possible moment to schedule in advance. Scheduling FP+ due to the unset schedule even 30 days out this summer, was the most difficult to judge compared to the past two summers. With that said, they may have tentative plans for it, but have not released anything.

I don't want to discourage you, but the current night-time Star Wars "show" that they are doing now is a projection show on the Chinese Theater with Star Wars music and fireworks "highlights". It is NOT the same Star Wars fireworks awesomeness that they were showing in the early part of June 2016.

I do not know what experience they will be offering during your trip, but I just wanted you to be aware they they had changed/replaced the super-cool Star Wars fireworks in mid June with a less spectacular offering.

Of course they have. Because cheaper is so much more better than awesome! (*sarcasm off*)

Thanks, now we won't waste our time in August.

Take time to check out the show online so you can make a fully informed decision. Christine reports about the changes in the show in the most recent podcast. I saw the current show online and it is definitely not what it was.

I wonder if they are re-doing it somewhat. I had read that the fireworks couldn't be seen from a lot of the viewing area.

All right. I try to be fair and I don't think I was very fair to y'all regarding the new Star Wars evening show at DHS.

Here's the deal. The original show was fireworks and music only, so it was very heavy on the fireworks. The Chinese theater was dark during the show. The new show has projections on the theater - I think at one point it transforms into the Millennium Falcon. While they do have less fireworks than the previous experience, if I only saw the new show, I think I would be glad that I did.

What I do not want to happen is for people to stay away because of my comments. I really recommend you view the current show online and then decide whether or not you want to see it in person.

May the Force be with You. :yoda:

I might feel different if I were a big Star Wars fan, but I am glad they have toned the fireworks down at DHS. The whole mess they created by closing TSM, GMR, and VLM for 2 hours was NOT worth 10 minutes of fireworks. In addition I felt like Disney was "playing with fire" by shooting them so close to people, and that it was only a matter of time before serious injury occurred. I saw the show twice and both times I personally witnessed small debris landing on someone near me.

I cringle when I hear people say the show is now such a big disappointment, because Disney may give in and go back to closing half the park down every night so they can shoot fireworks up close and personal!

PS: I haven't been there during the new show, so I am just ASSUMING that they are no longer closing down half the park to shoot fireworks.

I take it that you were never downwind of the Illuminations fireworks then. I was sitting at Rose and Crown, having dinner/dessert, under the awning, when Illuminations went off and ended up having to cover my plate and glass due to all the fireworks debris.

No personal experience with the show, but a colleague who was at WDW in late June, and who goes to the world regularly told, me the night Star Wars show at the studios was one of the best new things WDW has done in a long time.

I saw a livestream of both the "original" start wars fireworks, and the "new" ones, and I was so disappointed in the "new" ones. Now, I know it will be different/better in person, but it seemed like a shell of what they could/did do.

I did read that the "new" show fireworks are shot from outside the park, so they don't have to close it all down, even for the Frozen fireworks the past couple of years, that was really annoying!

And, to add to the R&C story, we had lovely outside seats on our honeymoon, and were enjoying our meal until mine got covered in ash from the fireworks. I was watching, and didn't realize until I went to take a bite. I think it happens fairly often, as I had a new meal in minutes!
