2017 Dining Plan rumors indicate Disney will be removing the dessert option on the quick service portion of the plan and replacing it with a second snack.

Impacted will be the quick and standard dining plans...

Table service meal will still include a dessert...

I'm really OK with this. The QS desserts were pretty blah a lot of the time, and I would far rather have another snack instead. If you really want a dessert, you can use the snack credit for it.

Agreed, I would much rather have a 2nd snack option instead of being "forced" to take the prepackaged "carrot cake" or chocolate cake or other bland generic option that they have at most of the QS.

This works so much better for me! Other than Disney and cruises I never eat desserts twice a day, I'd much rather have a separate snack credit that I could use for a salad and most important if I chose ice cream or one of those popsicle things in Mexico I don't have to eat it first.

I agree this is better.

Aren't the desserts considered a snack anyway? So essentially, you have the option of taking it or using it for another dessert elsewhere. I too like this plan better. At Cosmic Rays I'd rather go next door for a milkshake, at my convenience, than the pre-packaged cakes offered for dessert there.

The quick service plan however replaces two desserts with only one snack credit. The basic plan is a one for one. I guess pricing will determine where the value is (or isn't).

My wife and I were talking about this on the way home last night. We, when offered free, are always on the regular DDP, and one of our biggest complaints is always the desserts. Half the time, with 5 of us, by the end of the week our resort mini-fridge is stuffed with uneaten desserts. While this change may not provide more $$value$$ it does fit in more with our preferred eating patterns.

Its probably win-win. Disney sees savings as my guess is if a person goes on the DDP and goes to a QS, they will get their dessert, whether they truly want it or not, so it costs Disney. But I'm guessing many people leave their vacation with unused snack credits, so Disney gains there if there is an uptick in unused snack options.

For us, definitely a win, and much preferred over a QS dessert.

As long as they don't take Dole Whips off the Snack list, I'm fine with it!! :)

This! Bag the desserts - gimme another Dole Whip! :papple::cloud9::papple:

Now if they'd only bring back the appetizer for the TS credits...:pout:

Figment!

Now that the 2 desserts=1 snack credit has been confirmed, I'm not pleased. I've only paid for the dining plan once, but will NEVER consider it again for the future.

We never liked the quick service desserts much anyway. We usually ended up not eating them, not taking them, or just having a bite and not being impressed. I much prefer an extra snack vs a useless dessert.

I agree. However, the loss is 2 desserts. If they had replaced it with 2 additional snacks (making a total of 3 snacks), there'd still be some value.

At least that's how I feel about it.

What is the price of quick service compared to this year? Basically a snack or dessert is gone, did price go up?

I guess I'm in the minority on this one as I almost never ate the weird quick service desserts and would much rather have let's say popcorn and a soft drink as my snack, or it really frees up the ability to have a bagel or something at breakfast!
