Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza to Open in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida

Blaze Pizza, LLC Press Release
July 06, 2015

LOS ANGELES, CA-- Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza, the nation's leading fast casual artisanal pizza specialist, today announced plans to open a new restaurant at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World Resort at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The build-your-own pizza chain, known for its chef-driven recipes and casually hip restaurants, will occupy a new 5,000 square foot building with seating for approximately 200 guests. The target open date is May 2016.

Downtown Disney is currently undergoing the largest expansion in its history, to be renamed and re-imagined as Disney Springs, an exciting new waterfront district for shopping, dining and entertainment.

"We are excited to be part of the new Disney Springs expansion where we get the chance to introduce our super-fast artisanal pizza to guests from around the world," said Rick Wetzel, co-founder of Blaze Pizza. "True to Disney's high standards, we are building an amazing flagship restaurant that will include interesting architectural elements, great service and fantastic meals."

About Blaze Pizza
Blaze Pizza is a modern day "pizza joint" known for its artisanal pizzas, freshly made salads, blood orange lemonade and s'more pies. Each restaurant features an interactive assembly-line format that allows guests to customize one of the menu's signature pizzas or create their own, choosing from a wide selection of fresh, artisanal ingredients -- all for one low price. The generously-sized 11-inch pizzas are then sent to a blazing hot open-flame oven -- the centerpiece of the restaurant -- where dedicated pizzasmiths ensure that the thin-crust pies are fast-fire'd and ready to eat in just 180 seconds. Each restaurant makes its own dough from scratch using a recipe developed by critically-acclaimed Executive Chef Bradford Kent (the "pizza whisperer"), which requires a 24-hour fermentation period to produce his signature light-as-air, crisp crust. For pizza fans with specific dietary needs, Blaze Pizza offers gluten-free dough and vegan cheese.

The first Blaze PizzaŽ restaurant opened on Aug. 6, 2012, in Irvine, Calif., and quickly gained attention for its chef-driven recipes and "build-your-own pizza" assembly-line format. Now ranked as the overall #2 brand in Fast Casual's annual Top 100 list, Blaze Pizza is building momentum and developing a cult following as it expands across the country. The company currently operates 72 restaurants in 20 states and the District of Columbia, including the major metropolitan areas of Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and Washington D.C. Founded by Elise and Rick Wetzel (co-founder of Wetzel's Pretzels), the concept is backed by investors including LeBron James, Maria Shriver, Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner and movie producer John Davis.

About Disney Springs
Representing the largest expansion in Downtown Disney history, Disney Springs will be a one-of-a-kind Disney experience, treating guests by day and night to great dining, shopping and entertainment amid beautiful open-air promenades, flowing springs and waterfront charm. With an air of sophisticated grace and design that harkens to Florida's waterfront towns at the turn-of-the-century, Disney Springs will be home to four distinct, outdoor neighborhoods opening in phases: The Landing, Town Center, Marketplace and West Side. When fully completed in 2016, Disney Springs will double the number of shopping, dining and entertainment venues -- from the current 70 to approximately 150. Disney Springs is part of the Walt Disney World Resort, the number one family vacation destination in the world, located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

I have a Blaze Pizza 10min down the road from my home. I've never eaten there but sometimes the local university students are lined up down the street to get in. I never knew why. The building is very unassuming. Maybe I'll give it a shot. This sounds appealing.

Just read that they are coming near my area. I hope to get to try them out before I get to Disney to see what they are all about!

This could be a great addition - fast simple & made to order. Not a big chain fan but this one sparks my interest. So is this basically a personal sized pizza or for more? Can't seemingly judge pizza size by diameter easily.

My husband loves Blaze Pizza because he can pile the ingredients on sky high (he loves tons of vegetables). I prefer a simpler pizza, so it's not particularly designed for someone like me. However they do have a one sauce-one cheese-one topping choice for a reduced price so that's the way I usually go. (Just sauce and cheese is even cheaper). They are fast so it seems like a perfect place for Disney. And, yes, I would call the pizzas single serve although light eaters or guests wanting to save room for dessert could certainly share and be satisfied, IMO. Very thin crust, by the way.

Just ate one of their pizza's today. $6.25 for a one topping pizza at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda,MD. Pizza has a very thin crust. For the price, I would get it again, but its nothing great.

I bet they won't be $7.95 per pizza at WDW.

So, it's basically a Subway with pizza. Gotta be one hot oven to cook an 11 inch pie in 3 minutes!

It would be about the size of a full-sized dinner plate or vinyl record album. I would think a little large for a personal pizza, but a good 'snack' for two people.

Actually, the best Neapolitan style Margherita Pizza in the WORLD can be found in San Francisco, at a pizzeria called Tony's Pizza Napoletana, in the North Beach (Italian) neighborhood.

This pizzeria literally won a world championship. It is known as the "Best pizzeria in America."

You should branch out more. You're missing out.

Unless there were real Italians doing the judging, It don't count. Besides, my family makes Sicilian pizza.

I don't really do pizza when in WDW, except for Via Napoli (love theirs). But, for those who do... this is a great and quick option for then when in DTD.

I love all kinds of pizza... Hawaiian (pineapple, ham and bacon) included!!

However, I'm not a fan of Sicilian pizza... way too much dough (which is usually too dry and spongy for my taste). I want to taste toppings, not a ton of dough. Give me a nice, foldable, chewy slice.... :cloud9:.

I have to agree with Natalie... you need to get out more!
