Halloween party ?

DD and I were talking about this the other day, She would like to dress up as a Marvel character (Storm) and wanted to know if that would be okay? I read all the time about people dressing up as Disney characters and since Disney owns Marvel it should be okay. Just don't want her to be turned away at the gate. :mickey:

In the past we have dressed as Minions and a different year as the Peanuts Gang. We've seen loads of Harry Potters running around. In other words, your costume choices aren't limited to Disney Characters.
You aren't allowed to cover your face and the costume has to be family friendly but other than that - just have fun.

I'm surprised they don't really enforce the "no face coverage" rule.

A friend of ours has worn several full face coverings at MNSSHP, and seems to get away with it. He wore a full body Mike Wazowski one year, and was Shrek a few years ago (a full head-covering mask). A couple years ago he was Beaker with another full head-covering mask.

But yet, I see tons of highly inappropriate (aka sexy) princess costumes. I've gotten grief over my Tink and Zarina costumes being TOO authentic, and there are girls/women walking around in skirts so short they belong in Frederick's of Hollywood!! Not to mention the thigh-high stockings!! :mad:

We went two years ago as Donald and Daisy Duck Dynasty. I had on a camo shirt, camo socks, a full Duck Dynasty beard, and a Donald hat with bill that DW sewed on a little camo hat. DW's Daisy was the same, except her Daisy hat had a pink camo bow on top.

It was a big hit, especially with several CMs who were playing costume bingo and put us down for the center "most imaginative" square.

Going again this year and have to think of something new to try.

Hummm I know this is a family site, but talking about sexy ?!? Costumes. One year about 10 years ago, we turned in a young adult who had a very short skirt on, with NO UNDERWEAR...none, not even a thong, cause we got a full frontal view getting off a ride....they did escort her to the nearest store.

Actually, I was told I wasn't allowed to have my photo taken anywhere in the park, at all, the entire night.

A little girl was dressed like Tink one time, and she was so excited to see an adult (me) dressed like her, too (she knew I wasn't the "real" Tink). DH and I were having someone take our picture in the little area just inside Adventureland on the right where you can find Tarzan, Peter Pan, etc. Her mom walked up and asked to take a photo of me and her daughter together to show her friends at school, and a CM saw this. That's when the CM walked up to me and said that I was not allowed to be photographed in the park... Even Photopass pics with my DH. If she saw me, I would be escorted out of the park.

I had at least 20 or 25 people that night ask me to just stand there and pose for a pic... not with anyone... and I had to tell them no. It was stupid. The same thing happened last October dressed as Zarina. Had so many people ask for pics, and I had to tell them no, because I didn't want the same ridiculous CM conversation that I had previously.

Yet, barely-there princess costumes flitted around without a care.

We saw a similar thing at Kings Island one year. Needless to say, she was a popular character!!

Like I explained - Tinkerbell - custom wings that matched her design from the movies (same swirls, etc), blond wig with blue ribbon, green shoes with large irridescent poms, and a custom made dress I made myself (which wasn't exactly like hers, but still strapless, and the exact shade of green the Tink from Peter Pan wore).

I'd post a pic, but I can't seem to.

I've heard that the issue is not so much the costume itself, but the potential for guests to mistake you as a Disney employee. Thus, why short skirt princesses get a pass when someone with an elaborate Tink get up is asked not to take photos.

I'm just suprised that Disney will allow their squeaky-clean princesses to be sleazed up looking like street walkers.

Besides... I've never seen a character CM wear a MNSSHP wristband before... or carry a backpack with them.... or hold hands with their husband while walking through the park.... but I digress....

Remember, the theme parks *are* private property - a business - and they can write the rules...

Besides, it's hard to to tell in a dark(ened) theme park if a "character" has a Party wristband on or not...

No, they do not enforce the "no face covering" rule. A few years ago, we were beside Sally and the Pumpkin King during the parade (A jack-o'-lantern head, black cloak complete with hood). He was so realistic looking that he scared multiple CMs during the parade. We were right at the corner in liberty Square where the parade turns, and at one point Aladdin looked up and saw him and dropped Jasmine during the middle of the dance.

Oh yeah, that would be totally fine. We saw many non Disney costumes.
I adore the Halloween Party! I went for the first time a couple of years ago on a girl's weekend away. I really want to take my boys!
Budget makes it kind of hard. But I know they would love it.

Remember, the theme parks *are* private property - a business - and they can write the rules...

Kind of off-topic, but it still amazes me what people try to wear in that is not appropriate. And I'm actually shocked at the number of parents who let their young children where some of the stuff they do. I mus be old!
