Do you know what is the best thing to do about the 2 sets of Magic Bands if you are doing a split stay? Can you just use one set for both stays?

Yes, you can use just one set of the bands for both stays. Both bands will be connected to your MDE account (you can disable one if you wish, but there's no need to). Either band will open the door for both rooms, and both will access your tickets, FP+ and charging ability.

Remember, the bands are only a link to your MDE account - they don't actually contain any information on them about you. I currently have 5 sets of active bands (with another set in the mail as we speak). Four of those were the result of one trip (a split stay, AP purchase and a correction to that AP purchase). All four were interchangeable.

If you only want one set then you should only customize only the first set. The second set you can then choose to not accept them and they will then be wiped of information and returned for reuse/recycling.

Called yesterday to double check and they are clones of each other. If my DD wants to wear the blue one on Tuesday and pink one on Wednesday, perfectly fine.

Are you sure?

We have an upcoming stay with 3 different reservations due to discounts/dates etc. and I am uneasy about not having all the bands. I wish I knew about this prior because I don't want all the bands. I want to take just one, but when we were there last trip in July we had two reservations and different bands and had problems getting into parks and hotels with one set. My son actually had to wear two different ones because of issues. We were held up at the park entrance for over 30 minutes with a CM trying to work issues out. I just don't want to go thru that again.

Yes. I called DVC member services yesterday to confirm. Check the mydisneyeperience app or website, and if all the reservations are grouped together, then all the magic bands will work. Same as having multiple room keys.

Yes, I'm sure. We were there in October on a split stay. I had both sets of bands. All of them opened the door at the first resort. All of them opened the door at the second resort. All of them were used for admission, FP+ and charging.

The bands merely have an RFID chip in them which contains a code number. That number is used to access your actual account on Disney's servers. You can have multiple access codes (bands or cards) all of which are linked to your account. As bob6572 says, think of it as just having multiple keys - only in different colors!
