Is this really worth it? An automatic 18% is added to the bill. Is that before or after the 20% discount.

Wouldn't you leave a tip around that much? I believe the 18% is added PRIOR to the discount being applied. In general, you should always tip based on the subtotal (excluding tax) before any discounts are applied. That is the general etiquette and I believe how most restaurants calculate "auto gratuities."

Yes the 18% tip is added in before the discount, which is proper. Is it worth it? If you eat at table service restaurants it definitely is. Much better than the DDP. I mean, discount or not I'd still be leaving an 18-20% tip so the 20% discount is a true 20% off the meals. It can save me anywhere from $20-30 per meal for my family of 4. It pays for itself very quickly.

How ever you want to think of it it's a savings, unless you always stiff your waiter/waitress on tips.

Think of it as prepaid tips.

We find that we save considerably. We usually tip more than the 18%, but since it's a surcharge, that's all we leave.

A typical TS meal at WDW is approaching $50 a person, so even with two people, you'll break even at 5 meals or so. It's usually good for 13 months, so often you can stretch it over two years worth of trips.

It's probably not worth it if you don't do TS meals or are only visiting for a short period of time.

I agree with everything everyone above has said. For us it is our single most important purchase at WDW.

I am in agreement with everyone else but wanted to add you receive complimentary valet parking if you are eating at a hotel that offers it, which is a nice perk!

We always used to get it, sadly we normally go now during the new black out period, after Memorial Day thru mid June...

We love Tables in Wonderland over Disney Dining Plan. I made a copy of our savings (when I remembered.) There may be some I missed, but you can get an idea of the savings.

Note: as AP holders, I think we were able to purchase it for $75 as opposed to the usual $100. Don't quote me on that.

Tables in Wonderland

California Grille -- $35.00
50s Prime Time Cafe -- $10.96
Chef Mickey's -- $14.79
Le Cellier -- $28.60
Sassagoula Floatworks -- $3.11
Sassagoula Floatworks -- $2.00
Bongo's -- $21.19
Sassagoula Floatworks -- $0.86
Tony's Towne Square -- $11.11
Sassagoula Floatworks -- $2.55
Sassagoula Floatworks -- $2.39
Earl of Sandwich -- $7.11

Total savings = $139.67.

Best part is: we got to eat what we wanted and not what the DDP dictated!! Hope that helps.

VERY worth it! Don't forget that the discounts apply to alcoholic drinks as well and we all know how expensive they can be there! :marg::beer: We always pull up the latest list of their approved restaurants on our smartphones - you'd be surprise how many there are.

DH and I find it most definitely worth it!
