I rode POTC today and the front and back row of seats were blocked off for everyone. Is this new since the accidents or just for today for some reason?

I would like to know that as well.

Last week it was just the back row. I actually was in the front row last week so I wonder what changed.
I heard the back row was not being utilized because of the accident so I wasn't surprised by that one.

What accident? Maybe I have been out of the loop, but the only accident I can recall recently is the "finger" accident. Would they close rows on the boats because of that?

Haven't heard of any accident at POTC and I was there a week ago. We rode last Tuesday October 7 and all rows were being utilized.

I will, however, NOT sit in the first row of those boats. The newly designed boats that have been used for about a year tend to take on a lot of water after the small drop at the beginning of the ride. I got soaked in January after riding in the front!

I was referring to the finger accident. We were in the world when it happened and hadn't been on since before yesterday.

Ah, I see. Here's the link to the thread about the accident in the News, Rumors, and Imagineering board: http://www.intercot.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=205801

There's only 5 or 6 rows right? So taking out 33-40% of a ride's capacity would be a big deal that would hit the news / blogs / rumors forums pretty quickly.

Kid having a bodily fluid accident or someone spilling a drink on the seat or a row that took a particularly big splash of water is the more likely explanation.

It was every boat on both sides. The metal poles queuing people into the boat had ropes on the front and back for both sides.

2 weeks ago, all rows were being used.

Was just there over the weekend and last row was not being used on any boat. I had heard before that this was due to the aforementioned accident.

We were riding last week, and noticed that the back rows for queuing were roped off. At the time I thought they were using those rows for handicapped accessible areas, but maybe that wasn't the case. The front rows were definitely in use since we ended up in it on our first ride and got completely soaked! I don't consider POTC to be a "wet/water" ride, but I now will. Totally crazy how wet we were after the drop.

All rows were being used last Saturday. Our boat was packed full, as were all the others.

Rode it several times last month, almost every time the last row was closed off. I think it's a weight issue with the new boats.
