So, this weekend my wife and I had a weekend away in Richmond, VA. We saw the show "Wicked" (great show, BTW) and stayed at The Jefferson Hotel - a great hotel over 100 years old. (Google it for the website - I don't think I can post URLs here.)

I pulled up and immediately had Deja-vu - it was like I was stepping into the Hollywood Tower Hotel! (Please do a google image search for "Jefferson Hotel" to see images inside and out. I'd link them, but I think that is prohibited.) Inside and out, it looks like the HTH would, in its heyday. (And, if it had existed...) :) There were places in the lobby, around the hotel, all over, where it felt like the HTH.

(Please let me know if it is ok to post images...)

So, have you ever been somewhere where you had deja-vu from some place in Disney?

Just looked up photos of the hotel.

FANTASTIC!

Yes, I can see the ToT connection, too.
Thanks for the suggestion.

It is fine to link your own images via a photo sharing site. In this case, a link to the hotel itself is definitely in order.

Very cool!

Did you ride the elevator or take the stairs to your room?

Thanks guys!

We did ride the elevator - our room was on the 6th floor. :) Now, if a service elevator had shown up, maybe not.

I don't have any photos of the exterior, so hopefully you can see those on the hotel website. The architecture really reminded me of the HTH - towers and spires - even though it is only has 6 floors, not 13.

I do have a few interior photos that may give you a bit of the feeling indoors.

(I wish I had gone in there with this idea, of comparing this hotel with the HTH/ToT, as I missed many opportunities. The bell staff, for instance, had uniforms similar to the cast members but no hats.)

Here is a photo of the stained glass above the lobby. http://i.imgur.com/iq2ghld.jpg

If you look closely, the windows have this logo: http://i.imgur.com/zzjRccR.jpg which reminds me a bit of the HTH logo all around the ToT ride.

This photo: http://i.imgur.com/HmeLtbd.jpg of the setup for Sunday brunch, reminded me a lot of what the inside of the old HTH might have felt like. (You know, if it had actually existed.) Ornate columns, lots of fabric and metal.

Here's a fountain right outside: http://i.imgur.com/27A2GqJ.jpg - reminds me of some of the broken fountains around the queue line. (They have gator statues all around - the hotel used to have real gators in its fountains until the 50's.)

It was a strange feeling - one I don't remember having anywhere else - remembering how ToT looks. Good job by the imagineers.

I had the same feeling at the Adolphus in Dallas during a training there. It was eerie being in those elevators.

I had a déjà vu at our local wegmans grocery store (of all places!)

It was our first visit to the brand new store. We entered on the second level. The combination of the grand size, the view, lighting, color, people, and animatronic rooster made me feel as the I had entered a pavilion in Epcot! Maybe the land pavilion?

I was born about 15 blocks from there. Richmond is home (though I do not live there). I have never stayed at the Jefferson, but have been in it a few times. It is fantastic! So is Wicked, BTW. Great trip!

Regarding deja-vu, yes, I have. Multiple times. We started a thread kind of like this a few years ago....where things you encounter in daily life remind you of WDW.

We were in Switzerland eating at a streetside café and we said it reminded us of Epcot. Honestly! We were laughing at ourselves. I always use that as an example of how great Disney is at theming.
