Current APs and Magic Bands

I know that if you are a current annual pass holder and stay on property, the magic band you receive from your resort can be linked to your My magic account and you may then make advanced FP+ reservations as long as your AP is valid.
Does anyone know if their is a way, or if there will ever be a way for current AP's to acquire a magic band without a resort stay?:(
