I've never been on EE. How is the ride?? I know it goes backwards at a time but how long does it?? I would really like to try this ride. I sometimes have an issue with motion sickness.

I am not sure how long it goes backwards, but I can tell you I do not get motion sickness and I felt dizzy/sick for a few hours after I rode it a few years ago.

I get horribly motion sick, but mostly by spinning. I rode it twice in a row...the first time I was ok. After the second time... Not good

I think it depends on your tolerance.

I think it's a very smooth and enjoyable ride. I love it and ride it several times w/DD10 each trip.

My DW, on the other hand, is susceptible to motion sickness and she can only ride it once on a trip. (For example, she can't ride Star Tours 2.0, or the now-defunct Body Wars attraction either.) She loves the ride and attention to detail, but the reverse section does get to her.
I would estimate the reverse section is about 10-15 seconds long and because of darkness, coupled with the absence of a frame of reference, it feels as though you're traveling fairly fast even though you probably aren't.

I get motion sickness as well. I take a Bonine at the beginning of the day. I do ride EE everytime we go because my son loves it. When it goes backwards I just close my eyes and that helps a lot! I'd say you go backwards for about 1/3 of the ride. 1/3 going to the top of the mountain. 1/3 going backwards, and 1/3 going forwards.

I have to disagree with Terra; I have to keep my eyes open in the backwards/dark part and look at the little bit of light you can possibly see. Kind of like spotting when you are dancing or skating and going in circles. You focus on a specific spot and it seems to help. I get non-positional vertigo and as long as I do that, I seem to be OK with riding EE. And it really goes by quick.

I think it's such a personal experience! I get terrible motion sickness and I can ride Everest. I find it ends just in time for me! Any longer and I think I would get sick.

Now my friend is like that! She has to keep her eyes open. For me, with my eyes closed I just feel the movement but my eyes aren't seeing something different. It's so fast and dark tunnel/light that my brain goes crazy

Now I'm nervous to try it. I don't want to get  on the ride. Now that would be embarrassing.

I'm sure you wouldn't be the first. My best friend is deathly afraid of roller coasters. Leading up to this ride he turned pale and ghostly and we all thought he was going to faint. He loved it! The best for him was going backwards. My fiancé has occasional vertigo and she closes her eyes and points her head towards the floor. That seems to be her trick to keep from getting woozy.

I wouldn't worry about this one. I can get a bit dizzy at times, but I never have experienced that feeling on Everest. Going backwards is a lot of fun and only lasts a short time. If you haven't done this, you need to. You'll forever wonder if you should until you do it at least once.

I would definitely try this one. I was nervous the first time, but the backwards experience is much faster than it feels like it will be in your head. The ride is very smooth so it is actually much easier to ride than TMRR which can hurt my neck/ back. I get motion sickness like crazy on Star Tours but have never had an issue with EE. The view along is worth trying it at least once!

Ok. Maybe I will try it (bring a bag in case hahaha). I can't do Star Tours, Tower of Terror, Mission Space and rides like that.

You should definitely ride EE!!!
My DD who was 7 at the time and I rode front seat and she was a bit apprehensive to start with but loved it when we finished the ride.

Ride as close to the front as you feel comfortable with as being able to have a consistent view of your horizon keeps motion sickness and that feeling down or minimized. Your eyes will usually win out over your inner ear.

That's why they tell you to always look forward and focus on the screen and not to look to your right or left when on Mission Space.

Thanks for the advise. Hopefully we can get a front seat or close to.

Going to agree with a lot of people here and say it depends on your tolerance. I generally have to have a few sips of water afterwards. I generally like to sit or stand still for only a few minutes.

I get dizzy on things like star tours as well.

I HAVE to keep my eyes open. Then again, I've never tried it with my eyes closed, but I get the feeling that would be a nightmare.

There is one section of the ride where I really have to remember to breathe and relax. In previous EE discussions people have called it the helix section (I think). It's just that its in the dark, I just went backwards, and now I have no idea which way I'm facing. Thats what throws my body for a loop. If I keep my eyes open, I'm able to see those flecks of daylight which help me know that we're almost done.

It's not a few long moment, but I'm pretty sure that's what makes me feel a little ill afterwards.

Despite this, I still ride it every trip.
