Is it scary? Does it drop the whole way? To me it looks terrifying but have beent old it's not that bad.

......it doesn't "drop" the whole way ....it's more of an intermediate height drop ...that varies a few times through the course of the ride duration.

....and "drop" isn't really the appropriate word ...which would denote a completely "free-fall" experience that's based only on gravity. The ride is actually propelled downward to achieve the almost "weightlessness" sensation (ie: your posterior leaving the seat)

.....and it's of course propelled upward too ...forcing you back into the seat.

....it's a great ride ...and the queue ....is awesome just getting to the ride ...there's an incredible amount of detail (fyi ...look for "props" from Twilight Zone episodes along the way)

It's a great ride, very intimidating but great. The detail put into it makes it worthwhile, even if you chicken out at the end of the line, before getting on. The drop is as said earlier, it''s random in length and duration. Give it a try, at least to the chicken exit.

Thank you JerseyDad! Don't know why I'm so chicken to try it!!! Probably because I'm not a "youngin" anymore. I think I've scared my kids from trying it. I'll have to bribe them to try it first! I have until August to think about it.

HA HA HA! I could have my girls walk in front of me and then scoot out the exit!

I did it a few years ago with the encouragement from my daughter. I am no young'n either and I don't usually do roller coasters etc. This was intense also but I got through it. It was a rush and I am glad I did it but I don't need to do it again. You should consider it before you get "over the hill".

.....I was 43 yrs old at the time of my first WDW visit .....that was 10 yrs ago (you can do the math ;) )

.....way I see it ....I got this old with no mandatory bike helmets, no hand sanitizer, peanuts in my food, I drank Tab, Fresca, and then Diet Coke, had mercury in my tuna fish, a depleted ozone layer, "survived" an earthquake as well as a Carter, and then a Clinton presidency .....so ...an amusement park ride ain't gonna' do me in. :D

.....I say Go For It!! What don't kill ya at WDW ...will at least let you use up a FP+ reservation....

I can tell you that I HATE those rides that just pick you up and drop you. Scare me to death. But Tower is not like those rides. Yes, there's dropping involved, but it's not a complete 200ft drop. Just small, fun, exciting drops and lifts. Plus the story behind the ride is what makes it my favorite ride (tied with Splash Mt).

The Tower is one of my favorite rides but I love that stomach drop moment you get on TOT and on big drops on roller coasters. My husband hates it and has recently bowed out after years of riding with me so I wouldn't have to ride alone. :)

Oh and Gator and Jersey Dad are right, the queue and story make it so worth it. I would at least experience that. They will let you change your mind if you want before you get on the elevator.

Let me put it this way... Many years ago, right around the time ToT opened, my family visited WDW... My mother, who doesn't like any kind of thrill ride at all, was talked into going on ToT... Needless to say, she loved it.... Didn't go on it again, once was enough for her... But she loved it nonetheless... :)

She wouldn't go on Space Mountain though...

I love the twilight zone & it's theme, but it is exhilirahating!

There are some incredible special effects, and the theming is awesome as well. The worse part is the anticipation before you fall, rather than the fall itself.

It is a great ride, but very intense! I did it once and I am never, ever doing it again.

The sensation for me was like a great big swing on steroids -- in the dark. Waiting for the first drop was always a nail-biter, but after that (woo hoo), what a great feeling.

IMHO this is one of Disney's best ride concepts.

Enjoy.....

ToT is one of the best attractions anywhere. It is an example of Disney at its best - wrapping a great ride with great theming, atmosphere, and motivated cast members - to tell a story.

The ride queue has so many details - from the ruined gardens and statues outside, to the lobby and the libraries, even into the boiler room. It looks exactly as I would imagine an old abandoned hotel from that era would look today. Even the details outside - you would be hard pressed to see any other attraction from the queue line which would break the immersion experience.

I got a chance to ride ToT at DCA and was actually a bit sad. DL just doesn't have the same acreage to work with, so the scale of the ride is much smaller. The ride system is different and not nearly as good. There is much less theming around the ride, and really no immersion. AH well, a part of an experience is better than none at all.

Unless you are DEATHLY terrified of falls, dropping, or heights, I hope you will find a way to ride ToT at least once.

I have endured much the same as you from the looks of it....not only all of that I survived a volcanic eruption that destroyed my house, I was 8 miles from the base of it.....if we survived all that, then I am certain the ToT will not do us/you in !!

I've been on it twice, both times because I was with INTERCOT peeps and they "made me" ride.

I don't like it.

That said, I'm glad I've done it, the special effects are amazing!

Patricia's story is one of INTERCOT lore :D

I was in my early 40s before I gained the courage to ride TOT with my DS who was about 10 at the time - and now it is my favorite attraction at Disney World. Especially the best riding in the first row!

I love the ride, but it is pretty scary, after all, that's the whole point: it's not called Tower of TERROR for nothing.

That being said, it won't hurt you; the worst that'll happen might be that you wet yourself!

Have Fun! :woohoo: :scared:

Accurate!

I love this ride. I recommend you do it. It's one of the best themed rides at WDW.

I've ridden along side many first-timers. They're all very nervous. Afterwards, they all laugh. :mickey:

That's it....I went "over the hill" a few years ago (although my mind and body haven't caught on yet)!!! LOL Dropping up and down doesn't bother me like going in circles. I love the Aerosmith ride but that one loop does me in!

ToT scares the you-know-what out of me because I hate free falls. However, even though I rarely (if ever!) go on it anymore, I'm very glad that I have experienced it at least once. Just give a try one time to see what all the fuss is about and then cross it off your bucket list :mickey:.

My dad came with us to WDW last month. TOT was his FAVORITE ride... so much we had to ride it twice! :D He is 68

It is very scary and anxiety provoking...I will admit I have sweaty palms almost the whole way BUT I laugh my face off once we are going up and down. Its a blast, and its a feeling no other ride offers. I would give it a shot, not to mention the full bodied theme, once you are in the hotel you forget about the outside.

I've never been on TOT. Always afraid I'll be sick. My motion sickness has gotten worse as I got older.

Hmmmm....now I'm 60/40 for not trying it (high blood pressure). I actually saw an interesting video yesterday about WDW and in it was a part on ToT. It said that the ride is managed by a computer and the drops are never the same...always random.

The video was so interesting!!!
