A family friend delivered her baby on friday at 8 weeks early. She was in her ob/gyn's office when she thought her water had broken but instead she was bleeding heavily. She was rushed to the hospital and her little man was delivered by c section in under 30 minutes. She had suffered a severe placental abruption and needed several blood transfusions to make it through the c section.
If the abruption hadn't occurred in the doctors office where they were immediately able to call for help her doctors don't believe her or the baby would have made it.
Her little boy is now in the NICU on a chest tube, feeding tube and too many wires for such a small baby. He suffered a collapsed lung yesterday and was transferred to a separate hospital from mom with better NICU facilities. Mom and baby could both use any positive thoughts or pixie dust you could spare.
