I knew the railroad in the Magic Kingdom would close for refurbishment this fall. However, all this time I have misread the end date. Instead of 11/20, my mind read 10/20. We will be there when I thought it would reopen. :(

What am I going to tell my 5 year old son who LOVES trains??? I haven't told him about the closure and I would like to just ignore it. The problem is he has seen the train ride on DVDs. What do I tell him if he asks? His little heart will be broken.

On the same topic, how is the opening show running without the train? I've always wanted to
make myself get up early and see it. Is it with it know?

Thanks

Where do you see November 20? It's October 20...

Just looked at our Main St. Operations FaceBook page and there are CM's with "railroad" shifts listed on the 21st, so it must be open then.

If it is closed don't forget there's a train ride at AK you can take him on. :mickey:

We had talked about this in early September because some sites were posting through Oct 20 and some Nov 20. At that point our own Main Street Jm had reached out to his engineer buddies who confirmed the reopening for October 21.

I was beginning to wonder if my eyes were really that bad!

What time does the opening show begin?

On Intercot's own Rehabs section it says 11/20 too. I really am hoping that it is 10/20 because we will be there in two days!!!

Show begins 15 minutes before scheduled park opening (so usually 8:45)

I'd get there around 8:30 so u can get through the turnstiles ahead of time. The area can get pretty crowded

The train in the back of Animal Kingdom (someone previously mentioned) is pretty nice. The monorail of course. Thunder Mountain.

Isn't there a small kid train and DTD.

Too bad the ol Fort Wilderness train wasn't still there.

I can relate. Though I'm a bit older. Love the train.

Also glad to hear it is October, not November. I saw the Intercot rehabs listing also and thought we'd miss it. Five sleeps and we're there.

The MK train is operational as of this morning, Oct 20. Listening to its distinctive whistles and noises from the Poly and caught a look at it this morning as we were travelling around.

This Monday Morning the 21st we were at the resort monorail queue at MK and I ask the CM there if the train would be running today. He said no, not until November. The words were barely out of his mouth when we heard the whistle as the train was pulling into Main Street Station for the opening show. :mickey:

I had posted a while back that I would find out for sure from my Engineer and Conductor buddies...and they all reported back that it was indeed October 20, and not November as some Web sites had stated....
