Ringing in the New Year at DHS

I know crowds are nuts and to get there early but what do we do once we are in? what special events go on that day? Also, assuming fastpass+ will be implemented what do you think the best choices will be? This will not be our only day at this park. We intend on taking it all in. We have Fantasmic package booked at Hollywood and Vine. Any other special merchandise available just for that day? Any snack options you would suggest. Any other suggestions or tips for ringing in a special New Years at DHS.
