Moving quotes

Time to make my decision. I have quotes from several movers.

1. This mover came to the house for an estimate. They are not a broker and the estimate is 1170 cubic feet.

2. This mover is from Chicago, no in home estimate. Just going by what I told them. They came up with 960 cubic feet. Their estimate is also cubic feet and not weight. They are brokers. They came in a thousand less then number 1.

I am still tempted to go with the first mover. I don't like that the #2 is a broker and no in home estimate.

They both have an A status with the BBB.

Which would you choose?

I think I would go with #1; they came and gave you estimate after seeing the job. Just seem to me like #2 might have hidden costs involved. Remember, you get what you pay for... :)

Did you watch that new ABC show The Lookout? They recently had one on movers and how they're quoting one price and then trying to charge another saying it was a bigger load than quoted. Be careful and go with a reputable firm.
