My 24 yr old dd has to have her thyroid out the 19th because the doctors found golf ball size growths on both sides. She could just get a biopsy but then would have to do it every 6 months after. Just makes more sense to remove it. My dh and I are taking vacation that week so we can take care of her. She was so worried about her bills and being off work that she moved back home. I am sure everything will be fine but it is so hard not to worry. Don't want her to see me freak so I am venting to you. thanks for reading...

Prayers and good wishes. Know how hard it is to have a daughter with health issues. Ours is living at home, but has finally caught up with her health care bills and is doing better.:mickey:

Lots of :pixie: coming your way.

Both a close friend and my sister-in-law hav had their thyriods removed, and both did well after the surgery, and I'm hoping for the same for your daughter.

With all things going smoothly, she should be back to work in two weeks. I grow large lumps on my thyroid. They are always 'cold' when we biopsy and the biopsy is so easy. They stick a very thin, flexible needle into the neck. It is uncomfortable but not painful.

Good luck!

Both of my sisters-in law (they are not related) have had thyroid cancer, a former co-worker and a friend have also had it. All of them are doing well and are living problem free. I think this is becoming very common. My dentist told me that a lot of the cases come from patients who have had dental x-rays where the protective bib/covering didn't come up far enough.

I hope everything goes smoothly with your daughter and that she is well very soon.
