I have all of our ADR's made for our trip in November. One of our friends will be down in FL around the same time and has said she might come meet up with us. Is there a problem adding one to a dining reservation last minute? Right now there are three of us.

3 to 4 shouldn't be a problem because most times you're seated at a top for 4 anyway. I would just let them know at check-in and if you have to wait a bit longer, so be it.

It depends. If it's a very popular restaurant then you probably won't be able to add your friend on. If it's a less popular one, then it won't be a problem. It would be much easier for you to make ADRs for one extra person, and them not show, then it is to have too few and try to add. Fire code, especially, can make it problematic to add a person if they are at capacity in the restaurant. As stated above, going from 3 to 4 isn't as big of a deal as 4 to 5 or 2 to 3, but it would still be better to get a new ADR with the extra person just to be safe.

It depends on the set up of the restaurant involved too. If it is a restaurant where all parties of 3 are seated at tables which fit 4, then no.

If it is a restaurant (a-la Biergarten) where all seating is at larger tables where smaller parties are seated together, it could be.

Like a PP said, best to make a res for too many than too few. If this isn't possible, then try calling the restaurant directly as early as possible and inquire about upping it. Then there are no surprises or disappointments.

Depending on the restaurant, you could be charged for a no- show if you don't cancel 24 hours before...ex: Ohana. We have had 1 more person added upon arrival for an ADR's for Ohana, Chef Mickey's & Mama Melrose with no problem...we had family & friends who were cast members and couldn't give us enough notice if they could get their shifts covered to have dinner with us.

I have both added last min and taken one off without a problem. Most tables for three are for four. CM's have always come through for us.

Thanks for the replies everyone! We will have to wing it as our friends plans are not set in stone and we probably won't know until we see her at our hotel room door!!

We have added and removed people at the check in kiosk several times, and thus far we've not encountered any problems. We have had to wait a bit longer for a table, but so far we've been well taken care of. :mickey:
