Population would equal how many guests have passed through the gates... probably in the 800,000,000 neighborhood...

Thanks. There are specific numbers posted on the sign. I have photos, but the resolution is not good enough to be able to read them. Just thought someone might have the numbers.

I was trying to find the numbers for you, but couldn't... With all the Disney trivia sites out there you'd think this info would have been available LOL... The only thing I could find was the elevation and that the population equaled amount of guests which walked through the gate...

The number does change occasionally just like McDonald's number served. The sign has 600,000,000 for some time but given the passage of time will soon be changed to 700,000,000.

As a former WDWRR engineer and conductor....yep!

Elevation: 108 feet
Population (as of the last time we were at the park in December of 2011): 600,000,000.

Can't vouch for this answer, just what i got on googling it.


This is the number of estimated guests on June 24 1998. -Disneyland, California in a grand gesture celebrated their 600 millionth guest earlier. So, when the time was approaching for the MK park to do the same they made a celebration out of it.

August 1972 Attendance passes 10 million
March 1976 50-millionth guest
October 1979 100-millionth guest
July 1987 Total attendance tops 250 million
August 1992 400-millionth guest
Oct. 13, 1995 500-millionth guest
June 24, 1998 600-millionth guest



Since marketing have decided not to chronicle total park attendance since then the design of the sign has not changed. average park attendance at the magic kingdom is 17million guests per year so we can safely assume as of 2012 we have surpassed 800 millionth guest mark. next time you pass under the sign be sure to point out "it's more like population 800,000,000". anecdotally as I do! every time.

So as it was said the population was linked to the number of guests but they may not be counting up any more.
