I attendnd one of these events, related to pirates? during Spring break, and it made sense during spring break, but in September, when lines are shorter, does it make sense to pay extra for this? I've would think lines are better in fall anyway? Sure, it might be cute, but $50.00 each?

It doesn't matter what party you're talking about, if you're doing it for short ride lines it's never worth it. You have to want all the extra stuff. If you're just interested in rides, stay away. If you're interested in the trick or treating, special character meet n greets, HalloWishes, and the awesome Boo to You parade (which begins with the Headless Horseman riding through the park) then it's worth it.
