Animal Kingdome-Camp Minnie & Mickey?

What is Camp Minnie and Mickey at Animal Kingdom? I seem to always miss it. I've seen it on park maps but never seem to end up there. Is it a place for character meet & greets, like the area where you meet Pooh and Friends as you're heading into DinoLand?

To go to Camp Minnie Mickey you need to turn left right before Pizzasafari. It is a meet and greet area for characters and the Lion King show (for now) is there.

It is an area that held the Pocohantas and Her Forest Friends show (now closed), Festival of the Lion King, and 4 character meet and greet "trails" as well as an ice cream kiosk and a set of restrooms. The trail/walkway/path to get back there holds some stops for kids to interact with displays and some very nice flora and fauna.

As others have said, it's basically a meet-and-greet with characters. We took advantage of it last trip using PhotoPass and got pictures of Donald, Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy in safari outfits with myself and my family.
