disney trip insurance

I have a few trip insurance questions:

is buying the disney trip insurance offered to dvc owners the only way to protect our points?

does the regular disney hurricane policy protect booked dvc points?

does the hurricane policy only extend to include a hurricane affecting WDW (ie if there is a hurricane affecting me at home the wdw hurricane policy doesnt apply)

we have a trip planned for sept so I want my points protected (we have a oct use year so cancelled trip means points lost) but I don't want to buy trip insurance several times (points, airfare, etc) if 1 policy can cover everything.

The hurricane policy will covers your points. We were affected by Sandy last year and MS took care of everything with no problem. They also went as far as putting borrowed points back into their original use year.

I did buy the new DVC insurance this year. They have switched companies and the price is $85 per use year. We're taking 2 maybe three trips this year so at less than $30 per trip it just makes sense. It takes care of everything in one swoop.
