Booking a vacation for next year?

Okay, I'm sure this question has been asked before but I'm confused. Usually I travel at the end of the year so when I'm calling to make reservations it's the begining of a year. I know that I have up to three years worth of points that I can use (bank last years, use this years and borrow next years) but is that based on the date of the reservation or the date that I call to make the reservation?

I'm looking to maybe traveling next April. I may need to borrow a few points from the 2015 use year, however since I'd be making the reservation next month would the borrow year that I'd be going into be 2014? My use year starts in March.

You have a March use year and plan to travel in April, correct? The points are based on travel so if you banked any 2013 points they would be used first, followed by 2014 points, and if needed borrowed points from 2015.

DVC points are used in the use year that you travel, not the use year that you make a reservation. So, in March of 2013 you received your points for that year that must be used by February 28th 2014 unless banked. If you are traveling in April of 2014, you will first use any banked points from 2013, then your current 2014 points, then any borrowed 2015 points if needed.
