waitlisting questions

Ok, so I have a question about wait-listing. so here is my situation, if we want to book a room for 4 nights and only 3 of those nights are available, should we reserve the 3 nights and go back in and waitlist the extra night, or do we just waitlist the entire 4 night stay? any difference in doing it either way? any help would be appreciated, thanks

note that we can adjust room categories (ie book a studio for the extra night) and make it work, I'm just curious about how to go about using waitlists.

I would book the 3 available and the 1 studio. When you waitlist the 4th night it will ask you want you want it to replace so you would say the 1 studio. If it comes through, you can call MS and they will take your 3 plus 1 and combine them to 4 so you don't have to change rooms.

IMO, when you waitlist all 4 you run the risk that the first 3 are no longer available.
