Feb. 17, 2004 – Christi Carlson Romano of Disney Channel’s series Even Stevens and the voice of the animated Kim Possible joined the cast of the Broadway musical Beauty and the Beast. The 19-year old Romano is the 13th actress to portray Belle since the musical opened in New York in 1994. Meanwhile over at the Palace Theatre, pop-singer Deborah Cox replaced Michelle Williams in the title role of Aida.
Feb. 17, 2004 – Disney announced its deal to buy the Muppets and Bear in the Big Blue House from Henson.
Feb. 17, 2006 – The Walt Disney Presents film “Eight Below” opened in theaters.
Feb. 17, 2006 – Air Force One carrying U.S. President George Bush touched down at Orlando International Airport (just in time for rush hour on busy I-4). From there the president was transported to Disney’s Contemporary Resort to speak at a $500-a-plate dinner (a fundraiser for Republicans.)
Feb. 17, 2009 – WDW Resort welcomed a black and white colobus monkey, the first of its species born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Feb. 17, 2011 – The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS) hosted its Investor Conference at the Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim, Ca.
Feb. 17, 2012 – The Walt Disney Pictures film “The Secret World of Arrietty” was released in U.S. theaters,
Feb. 17, 2012 – D23’s “23 Days of Celebration” invited all Disney fans to help mark the 3rd anniversary of the first and only official Disney fan club.
Feb. 17, 2012 – Disney California Adventure park debuted its newest stage show “Minnie’s Fly Girls Charter Airline.”
Feb. 17, 2012 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “Radio Rebel,” starring Debby Ryan aired for the first time.
