Feb. 4, 1999 – Pixar Animation Studios announced that it has developed a proprietary laser recording system called PIXARVISION for converting digital computer data into images on motion picture film stock with unprecedented quality. The new system was successfully tested on the 1998 animated hit, “A Bug’s Life,” and would be used to produce Pixar’s future animated features including “Toy Story 2.”
Feb. 4, 2000 – The Disney/Hollywood Picture film “Gun Shy” was released in theaters.
Feb. 4, 2002 - Super Bowl XXXVI MVP Tom Brady of the New England Patriots appeared in a parade down Hollywood Blvd. at Disney’s-MGM Studios.
Feb. 4, 2003 – Walt Disney Records released the CD’s “Sing Along With Disney Princesses” and Jungle Book 2: Songs From the Film and Other Jungle Favorites.”
Feb. 4, 2004 – The WDW special event “This Is Love: A Royal Knight to Remember” took place at the Magic Kingdom.
Feb. 4, 2005 – It was announced that the Walt Disney Co. would open a 3rd Disney hotel within Tokyo Disney Resort in 2008. The nine-story high hotel will have about 700 guest rooms and will be larger tham the parks other two hotels.
Feb. 4, 2005 – A racecar sponsored by Disney & Pixar and driven by film legend Paul Newman took part in the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. (Newman is the voice of a 1951 Hudson Hornet in “Cars,” a Disney/Pixar animated film to be released in 2006)
Feb. 4, 2005 – The Pleasure Island Mardi Gras celebration began at WDW. (3-day event)
Feb. 4, 2006 – The 33rd Annual Annie Awards were presented. Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has A Glitch” won for Best Home Entertainment Production.
Feb. 4, 2007 – At Super Bowl XLI in Miami, Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy and running back Dominic Rhodes took part in the 37th Disney TV ad following their win over the Chicago Bears 29-17.
