Jan. 23, 2001 - Disney’s “The Kid” starring Bruce Willis, Spencer Breslin, and Lily Tomlin was released on video.
Jan. 23, 2004 – Disney’s animated series “Dave the Barbarian” debuts on the Disney Channel.
Jan. 23, 2004 – John S. Chen was welcomed to the Disney Board of Directors.
Jan. 23, 2005 – The NFFC hosted the World’s Largest Strictly Disneyana Show & Sale at the Crowne Plaza Resort Hotel in Garden Grove, Ca.
Jan. 23, 2006 – “Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue” attraction opened at Disney’s California Adventure.
Jan. 23, 2006 – The Walt Disney Co. headquarters building in Burbank, Ca. was renamed as “Team Disney – The Michael D. Eisner Building.” (Eisner was CEO of the company for 21 years.)
Jan. 23, 2006 – The Disney/Touchstone Television/Paramount Network Television half-hour comedy series began airing on CBS-TV.
Jan. 23, 2007 – Nominations for the 77th Annual Academy Awards were announced. The 13 nominations for Walt Disney Pictures include “Cars”, for Best Animated Feature Film of the Year & Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Song), and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest,” for Achievement in Art Direction, Achievement in Sound Editing, Achievement in Sound Mixing & Achievement in Visual Effects. (Winners would be announced Feb. 27, 2007)
Jan. 23, 2009 – The “Celebrate Dreams Come True Parade” debuted in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Jan. 23, 2010 – Actor Paul Castle, Sr., who portrayed Mickey Mouse for 25 years at Disneyland passed away at age 86 in Edmond, Ok.
