Jan. 18, 2002 – The Disney Channel Original Movie “Double Teamed” first aired.
Jan. 18, 2002 – Disney’s Lizzie McGuire episode “Gordo’s Bar Mitzvah” aired.
Jan. 18, 2002 - Disney’s “Snow Dogs” starring Cuba Gooding Jr. Opened in theaters.
Jan. 18, 2002 - Disney designers met with the director of the Kennedy Space Center to discuss a Space Pavilion at Epcot.
Jan. 18, 2003 – “Winnie-the-Pooh Day’ was celebrated to honor his author A.A. Milne.
Jan. 18, 2007 – “AFI’s 100Years…100 Movies – 10th Anniversary Edition” was announced. (Disney’s 1937 Snow White came in at #34 and Pixar’s Toy Story at #99.
Jan. 18, 2009 – Singer Jay Mayer passed away in Ca. Disneyland fans knew him for his 13 years in the Golden Horseshoe Revue and as one of the singing busts in the Haunted Mansion attraction.
Jan. 18, 2010 – It was reported that Disney’s feature film adaptation “John Carter of Mars” (based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs book) has begun principal photography in London.
Jan. 18, 2011 – In front of an auditorium packed with local and international press, Disney executives unveiled details on a new and improved Fantasyland at WDW which is scheduled to be completed by 2013. The planned attractions include “Castle of the Beast,” “Princess Fairytale Hall,” “Under the Sea-Journey of the Little Mermaid,” “The Sound of Calliope,” “Storybook Circus,” and “The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.”
Jan. 18, 2011 – Nominees for the 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards were announced with “Toy Story 3” tarning three for Animated Film, Adapted Screenplay and Special Visual Effects. (The awards would be presented Feb. 13, 2011)
