Jan. 11, 2004 – The 11th Annual “Walt Disney World Marathon and Half Marathon” took to the streets in WDW.
Jan. 11, 2004 – Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean won a People’s Choice Award for favorite motion picture at the 30th annual event.
Jan. 11, 2004 – According to Box Office Mojo, Disney’s Finding Nemo was #9 in World Wide All-Time Box Office Grosses (as of this day) at $821.3 million. Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean came in at #18 at $653.4 million.
Jan. 11, 2005 – Disney released 4 Walt Disney Classic Cartoon favorites to DVD. The vintage collections include Walt Disney’s Classic Cartoon Favorites: Volume 1: Starring Mickey, Volume 2: Starring Donald, Volume 3: Starring Goofy, and Volume 4: Starring Chip ‘n Dale.
Jan. 11, 2005 – American Pride Seafoods partnered with Disney to develop frozen Seafood Products featuring Disney characters. The products would feature Mickey Mouse, The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and Lilo and Stitch.
Jan. 11, 2007 – The “Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage” attraction opened in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
Jan. 11, 2008 – Disney announced in a letter from CEO Bob Iger to shareholders that the 2008 annual meeting of shareholders would be held Mar. 6, 2008 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Jan. 11, 2008 – The syndicated television program Entertainment Tonight featured a segment on Disney’s newest stage musical “The Little Mermaid.”
Jan. 11, 2009 – The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards took place at The Beverly Hilton in Ca. “Wall-E” won Best Animated Feature Film. Director Andrew Stanton accepted the award.
Jan. 11, 2009 – The 16th Annual Walt Disney World Marathon took place with Brazilian Adriano Bastos winning for the 5th consecutive year (and 6th time overall). He finished the 26.2 mile run in 2:20:38. Lisa Mizutani, a 23-year-old medical student from Japan, won the women’s title in 2:46:27.
