That's one I would really love to get to.

I would like to start out by saying that I have always tried to be Disney's biggest defender. We left our friends, our home, our jobs to move closer to the magic, closer to our happy place. Clearly we love WDW and Disney itself. I do not derive pleasure nor do I make it a habit to negatively moan and complain about WDW.

However... it seems to be happening more frequently!

I went to "Limited Time Magic" today.
What a strange promotion this is? At first I thought "ok, I feel sorry for those who might miss the limited time magic event that they want to attend" I felt like it could be cruelly called the "exclusively offered happiness" promotion.

Today, I feel it would be more aptly named "Limited EFFORT Magic" as it was just 4 characters by a stone and some old christmas decorations, in the holiday clothes that (until just last week) they'd been wearing for the past 2 1/2 months?!

It looked strange and odd and was nothing more than the characters you pass anywhere else in the parks?

But the lines! You'd have thought they were handing out $100 bills? I don't understand this. I certainly hope it gets better. I will do my best to attend them all and post photos for those who would like to see.

Wow...that's it?? I would have thought they would have transformed the Canada pavilion into a winter wonderland with snow on the ground and decorations everywhere. Didn't it also say it was going to be falling snow? Where was it?

No transformation. What you see in the picture is it. Snow? Yes it was sparingly spitting soap bubbles.

Hopefully this gets better.

Ugh. So disappointed. Now I am not so sad that we won't be going back till January of 14. Hopefully this silly "campaign" is over by then. Sorry to be a debby-downer but really, could this campaign be any less inviting? Daisy Duck? Meet n Greet? You mean the same Daisy Duck I can see in pretty much every park, sometimes three times.....:thedolls:

Bring back Year of a Million Dreams, THAT one I looked forward to. I didn't exactly win a Castle stay (**coughcoughIancoughcough**) but I did win those really neat Lanyards with Pins!

Instead of Limited Time Magic, they should call it Limited Magic in WDW... Cause the magic is, well nonexistent in most cases, but surely limited in all cases...

First of all, adorable picture! Thanks for sharing it and giving us a review of what it was all about.

Second, how disappointing. :( If we stumbled upon this on a trip, knowing nothing about it, I would think it was really fun. Wouldn't wait in a huge line for it, but still fun. However, if I went hoping to enjoy some Limited Time Magic, I would be just as unimpressed.

Updated original post with Long-Lost Disney Friends for January 21-27.

From Disney Parks Blog:

When Nate shared a look back at Robin Hood and Friends visiting the Magic Kingdom Park back in 1979, many of you asked to see them again. Well, next week, you’ll have that chance and more as we continue “Limited Time Magic” at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Long-lost Disney friends are returning to the Magic Kingdom Park just to meet you and your family. For one week, January 21–27, be sure to have your camera ready for a rare chance to possibly brush shoulders with classic characters like Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar, Robin Hood and Friar Tuck.

There’s also a chance you’ll see The Three Little Pigs and more surprises at Magic Kingdom Park. So, which long-lost Disney character would you like to see the most? Let us know in the “Comments.”

Melanie

So the long lost thing is cool, but it looks like they are taking it literally and going back to the early days of Disney with the Three Little Pigs, Robin Hood characters, etc. I guess when I initially heard about this particular week, I was hoping it would be more "rare" characters, not necessarily old (aka 'long lost').

When they bring out Launchpad McQuack for the marathon, he gets so much attention. Or Li Shang and Shan Yu from Mulan. Or any of the 'retired' Princes for that matter. And what about all the dwarfs?

I sure hope there are more than what's listed in the article.

I sure hope there are more than what's listed in the article. Here's the tentative list reported by Character Cast:

3 Little Pigs
Big Bad Wolf
Clarabelle Cow
Horace Horsecollar
Jiminy Cricket
Ludwig Von Drake
Pinocchio & Friends
Scrooge McDuck
Robin Hood & Friends

Main Street Jim

Clarabelle Cow
Horace HorsecollarCan be seen in the Halloween parade; also were in the Family Fun Day parade from a couple of years back...and seen in the MVMCP parade, aren't they?

Jiminy CricketHave a pic of my wife and I with Jiminy at Conservation Station from our 2011 Christmas trip

Pinocchio & Friends"And friends"? Gepetto, Stromboli, J. Worthington Foulfellow and Gideon? We'd see Pinocchio *all the time* at the parks, once in a great while, Gepetto...but the last time I saw Stromboli was probably 2003 <?>, and Foulfellow and Gideon used to be in the afternoon parade...

Scrooge McDuckIsn't Scrooge out during MVMCP any more?

Robin Hood & FriendsAgain, it's been only since about, oh, 2007 maybe <?> that we've seen Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Little John, and the Sheriff out. I know they used to be in the original Share a Dream Come True parade.

As for the others...I just watched a 1962 Disneyland After Dark (on YouTube). You wanna talk about *creepy-lookin'* characters...LOL....the pigs and the dwarves all had WAY "oversized" heads...

The Walt Disney World resort has released dates in-advance for three events in a recent announcement to Passholders:

Disney memories last a lifetime. But the window in which you can make your memories can sometimes be limited. Before you know it, your little princesses and pirates will be trading in their crowns and bandanas for graduation caps.

So throughout 2013, we're sprinkling a little extra pixie dust over our Disney Parks-to make yours and your family's special time together more magical than ever.

Here's a sampling of what Limited Time Magic has in store for you this year:

True Love Week Feb 11-17, 2013
Magic Kingdom

Cinderella Castle will blush pink and red while lovebirds celebrate a week filled with royal Prince and Princess Meet ‘N’ Greets and limited-edition Disney Valentine collectibles.

Independence Week July 1-7, 2013
Magic Kingdom

The 4th of July is seven days long this year as Disney salutes America with a spectacular 4th of July Fireworks Party. Everything will be red, white and blue, from the fireworks and Cinderella Castle down to special-edition U.S.A. shirts, ear hats and other patriotic souvenirs.

Unleash the Villains Friday, Sep 13, 2013
Disney’s Hollywood Studios®

The Disney villains are so excited about Friday the 13th, they’re taking over Disney’s Hollywood Studios®! Join in the fun for a night of mischief and a villainous dance party that will last until the 13th hour (1 a.m.).

So, reports from Long Lost Friends at MK this morning are no surprises with characters (exactly who they announced) and the characters are giving out cards and not doing autographs. There are reports of long lines.

Sorry, but with this one, and the Canada Winter Wonderland last week, I don't get the fascination and the long lines. But as we know, if Disney stamps it as 'special', folks will follow.

Wow, bummed to hear about the lack of "magic" in this promotion so far.
From what I have seen posted for the "events' schedule, and the less than glowing reviews here...I can only hope they put more effort into the one that seems to be getting the most "hype"...The Villians...
I actually took that day off and intend to be in the park all dang day...Wouldn't it be great if some where hidden away they have a Chernabog costume?? I would wait in line for hours to have my pic taken with Chern...
Evil-It just entices me I guess :thedolls:
Oh-and imagine if they had a Horned King...The 2 of them could battle it out for the title of most evil character ever created by Disney (my vote is for Chernabog...I mean really, his name even means Devil!)

If you’ve been known to sing along with our Dapper Dans, the iconic quartet from Main Street, U.S.A., then you’re in for a special treat next week. We’re continuing our “Limited Time Magic” surprises with performances from our “original boy band” at the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

I was in Disney in January during the Long Lost Friends Limited Time Magic. I was so excited to walk into Magic Kingdom one morning and see Scrooge, Robin Hood and other characters that aren't every day staples. So I personally found that excited. Brought out the kid in me, as Disney always does.

‘Limited Time Magic’ Disney Character ‘Egg’ Hunt Begins Next Week at Disney Parks

If you have an eagle eye, next week’s “Limited Time Magic” surprise at Disney Parks is especially for you. We’re launching a special “egg” hunt at both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

For one week only, from March 18-24, you’ll be able to search for special hidden “eggs” themed to Disney characters at Epcot and at Disney California Adventure park and then record your discoveries on specially themed Eggs-perience park maps.

At Epcot, maps can be purchased at the Heritage Manor in the American Adventure Pavilion, International Gateway, Pin Central and Port of Entry.

And at Disney California Adventure park, you can purchase the map at Elias & Co., Oswald’s, Radiator Springs Curios, Tower Hotel Gifts and Treasures in Paradise.

Each map and set of stickers will cost $4.95, plus tax at select locations. And whether you choose to hunt for eggs or not, return your map to a Port of Entry at Epcot or Elias & Co. at Disney California Adventure park for a surprise.

Maps will be available while supplies last and no discounts apply. You should also know that separate admission is required to enter Disney Theme Parks and the experience is subject to restrictions and change without notice.

April's "Year of the Hat" selection is.....a Strawberry Ear Hat. This is from the Disney Parks Blog discussion with the designer:

“I took photos of four different strawberries to design this hat,” explained Mark. “After merging the four photographs, I rendered the image to get the final art. The ear hat looks wonderful; it exceeded my expectations. Spring is a great time for enjoying strawberries, so we thought this hat would make a nice addition to the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival.”

My son and I love the chocolate, caramel-covered strawberries from Karamell-Küche in the Germany Pavilion at Epcot. I snuck a quick photo of him wearing this hat, which we’ll both need during our next strawberry eating excursion.

On April 1, look for this hat in select locations at Epcot, including the Festival Center located between Mission: SPACE and Universe of Energy.

Are the faires not at WDW all the time? What happened to the area they had especially for them and you would visit one in each room?

Guess that was over near Mickey and Minnies houses and it got torn down during the expansion?

We saw them when the meet and greet first opened and thought it was fun but haven't really thought about it in a few years since no one wanted to visit.

Hope something exciting happens the next week but I won't hold my breath lol. Maybe something cool for earth day.

No, you are correct Deb, they are there all the time (over in Adventureland), although I don't think it's all the Fairies at once anymore. I guess that's the LTM? I wasn't going to comment with my same concerns until someone else did. ;)

These "magical" events are very underwhelming to say the least...I don't get why we should be excited this week for something that is around the other 51 weeks of the year!

We took a friend with us the year we saw them at MK - both girls were in high school and our youngest did NOT want to get her picture taken with ANY character. Her friend is a huge Tinkerbell fan and we waited forever to get pictures with the fairies when the paint was fresh on the walls at the new meet and great.
I think it had just opened the week we were there.

The pictures are adorable of her friend Courtney beaming with Tinkerbell and my youngest frowning at her and the other fairies. I think we got to meet at least 4 maybe 5 and each had a room decorated with their personality/character.

First Three-Park All-Nighter Kicks Off Monstrous Summer at the
Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts

:mike: :sulley:

Just seconds ago, a 180-foot-tall Mike Wazowski from the upcoming Disney●Pixar film “Monsters University” made the official announcement that we’re keeping three theme parks open for 24 hours on Memorial Day Weekend, the traditional start of the family travel season, to kick off a Monstrous Summer on both coasts. Wazowski, the loveable green-bodied, one-eyed monster, joins best pal James P. Sullivan (“Sulley”) in the prequel to “Monsters, Inc.”, this summer as college students with hopes of becoming Scarers.

Our first-ever, three-park all-night party is happening at the Magic Kingdom Park in Florida and Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park in California. The parks will stay open from 6 a.m., May 24 to 6 a.m., May 25, 2013, local time.

In Florida, Magic Kingdom Park will feature a “Monsters University” theme where Mike and Sulley will be the Grand Marshals of the “Celebrate a Dream Come True” day parade and make appearances in Tomorrowland. There will be extra entertainment throughout the day and night, including characters in their pajamas in Town Square during the late night and early morning, and late-night dance parties in and around the courtyard of Cinderella Castle.

In California, you’ll be able to party the night away at both parks with special entertainment including: a “Monsters University” “TLT Monstrous” Dance Club and Star Wars characters in Tomorrowland and late-night Character Pajama Party in Mickey’s ToonTown at Disneyland park. The new Fantasy Faire Royal Theatre at Disneyland park will become a Royal Dance Hall late at night with a live band and dancing; and guests of Disney California Adventure park will find Monstrous photo opportunities with new “Monsters University” “Dorms” in Hollywood Land and a new “Monsters University” float leading the Pixar Play Parade.

‘May The Fourth Be With You’ Celebrated at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for ‘Limited Time Magic’
:darth::trooper::yoda::chewy::ewok:

For one day only, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will present a “Limited Time Magic” event for the annual, fan-proclaimed “Star Wars Day,” May 4 – a date that Star Wars fans worldwide turn into a celebratory pun, “May the Fourth Be With You!”

Separate from our month-long Star Wars Weekends special event (which begins May 17), this “Limited Time Magic” celebration features special Star Wars entertainment, characters, commemorative merchandise, a Star Wars dance party and a Star Wars-themed fireworks show to cap off the day.

You might even find yourself sitting next to Chewbacca aboard Star Tours – The Adventures Continue. Star Wars characters will make surprise appearances on the 3-D attraction to enjoy the wild journey through space alongside park guests.
A special edition of Jedi Training Academy also is planned that day, with parents invited to join their children (ages 4-12, sign-ups required on first-come basis) on-stage for the training and final showdown with the Empire.

When the sun goes down, galactic fun lights the night as Lobot (from Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back) takes over as DJ for a dance party that will be highlighted by a special Star Wars fireworks show.

“May the Fourth Be With You” “Limited Time Magic” park activities and shows are included in regular admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

I got to see the monstrous summer even last nite at Epcot. So cute, but like the dragon at the FLE event , was one time only. :(

Ill be at the Star Wars event on the 4th briefly, then It's off to run the Everest Challenge! So watch the Twitters and there'll be photos and video. The pyro for Star Wars is supposed to be stellar!

These LTM are much more the caliber that I expected.

I'm not sure of the wording for the LTM on the 4th- do you have to have kids to be an adult in JTA? Because I would LOVE to participate...but I don't have kids

If anyone's been waiting for the info on the Independence Week Celebration (I sure have), here it is.

:flag:

This year, honor America in style by celebrating the Fourth of July with a little Limited Time Magic!

From July 1 to July 7, 2013, you can join the Disney Parks on each side of the country to ring in Independence Week—a red, white and blue bash where both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort will be saluting our nation's birth.

Don't miss out on all the sweets and treats, including a special fireworks spectacular, when Independence Week lights up—from sea to shining sea!

A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky
Watch along as the evening ignites into a heroic display at both the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort! Rocketing into cosmos each and every night over the course of Independence Week, this is your chance to experience "Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky." Witness the spectacle as an altogether different kind of star-spangled banner explodes to life in the air high up above!

Join the Festive Fun at Walt Disney World Resort
Shout "Hooray!" each day at Walt Disney World Resort as Goofy, Donald and Pluto spread the "Spirit of '76" on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom park. Join the trio as they introduce the "Celebrate a Dream Come True" Parade with a rousing new pre-show, featuring the Main Street Philharmonic and the Citizens of Main Street, in addition to Walt Disney's historic horse-drawn calliope. Come along for the ride during this flag-waving, song-and-dancing celebration of the United States!

Collect Classic Americana Disney Merchandise
Commemorate what makes America great during Independence Week with a proud assortment of flag-waving merchandise! Whether you're kicking off the celebration at the Disneyland Resort or at Walt Disney World Resort, be on the lookout for star-spangled souvenirs, including red, white and blue Mickey T-shirts, patriotic trading pins, light-up star necklaces and even costumes for Duffy the Disney Bear, colored just for the occasion. No matter where you celebrate, you're sure to remember Independence Week!

Indulge in Desserts as American as Apple Pie
Discover the spirit of America alive and well inside a smattering of delicious desserts at the Disney Parks!

Take a tour of Walt Disney World Resort and find irresistible offerings in each of the Parks. Stop by Magic Kingdom StoryBook Treats at Magic Kingdom park to try out the Red, White and Blue Strawberry Shortcake. Or, experience a flavor explosion at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Park or Downtown Disney area with the Fourth of July Cupcake, complete with Apple Pie filling, Caramel Buttercream and Apple Crisp Topping. For even more sweets, pop into Epcot for a Skillet-baked Peach Cobbler with Vanilla Whipped Cream or the Red, White and Blue "Baked Alaska" Mousse.

A Proud Celebration for All Ages
Why settle for one day of independence when you can celebrate seven? No matter which Disney Park in America you end up visiting, enjoy an event full of life, liberty and tons of happiness—only during Independence Week!

LTM is driving me nuts! All of wdw social meadow pushes the Lone Ranger boot with frozen root beer today. I went to get one? Sold out. :(

They aren't kidding when they say LIMITED time magic! ;)

Also, wdw twitter and Facebook and blog announced the debut of beauty and the beast vinylmation. Well I went to all four parks today and couldn't find a single one. I asked CMs and they had no clue.

The monsters U pep rally is just a dance party like they do at rocket tower in Tomorrowland. Although the monsters U themed bar and drinks are really so cute!

REALLY excited though about independence week. My friend in pyro said the nights to watch will be the 2-4. :fworks:

Have these stopped or have we just lost intrest? Either way, if they lost us, they really need help. Maybe they should read the boards and use some of the really good ideas people come up with. Of course, they would have to contact the poster and get permission to use anyones original ideas. Oh, I see, there would be patant issues and royalties and legal type people involved.

Hhmmm, not very magical.
