Dec. 23, 1943 – Actor-writer Harry Shearer, the voice of Dog Announcer in the 2005 animated feature “Chicken Little,” was born in Los Angeles, Ca. (A Saturday Night Live alumni, Shearer provided many of the voices for TV’s The Simpsons.)
Dec. 23, 1954 – The Disney movie “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,” starring Kirk Douglas, Peter Lorre, and James Mason, was released. (It was the first Disney feature filmed in CinemaScope.)
Dec. 23, 1954 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Grand Canyonscope” was released.
Dec. 23, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Talent Round-Up Day” on ABC-TV.
Dec. 23, 1962 – The Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color TV series aired “Holiday Time at Disneyland.”
Dec. 23, 1966 – TIME the weekly news magazine featured the article “Walt Disney: Images of Innocence” (volume 88 no. 26). A portrait of actress Julie Andrews graces the cover.
Dec. 23, 1973 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired “From All of Us to All of You” on NBC-TV.
Dec. 23, 1982 – The “Electronic Forum” (Epcot Poll) attraction opened in Communicore East in Epcot at WDW. (Closed Mar. 16, 1991)
Dec. 23, 1987 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Good Morning, Vietnam,” starring Robyn Williams had its premiere. (General release was Jan. 15, 1988)
Dec. 23, 1990 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Green Card” had its initial release in Los Angeles. (General release was Jan. 11, 1990)
