Dec. 13, 1940 – Disney’s Donald Duck cartoon “Fire Chief” was released.
Dec. 13, 1941 – Actor-singer & TV host John Davidson was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. His live-action Disney credits include “The Happiest Millionaire” (1967) and “The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band” (1968).
Dec. 13, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Guest Star Day” on ABC-TV.
Dec. 13, 1956 – Disney’s 1944 animated feature “The Three Caballeros” was released in the Philippines.
Dec. 13, 1957 – Actor Steve Buscemi, the voice of Randall Boggs in Disney’s 2001 Pixar collaboration “Monsters, Inc.” was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Dec. 13, 1959 – Child-actor Johnny Whitaker, who starred in Disney’s 1972 “Napoleon and Samantha,” and “Snowball Express,” was born in Van Nuys, Ca.
Dec. 13, 1966 – Walt’s wife Lily wrote his annual birthday letter to sister Ruth. Her opening words include: “As you have probably surmised things have been a little irregular around here with Walt being ill and so your birthday remembrance from him is a little late. I know it comes with his best wishes that your day was a nice one and the hope that you will find something special to get for yourself with this check.” Lily wrote of her daughters and grandchildren and asures Ruth that her brother will write as soon as he is back in the office. (Walt would pass away two days later.)
Dec. 13, 1969 – A special preview of “Disney on Parade,” a touring holiday show to debut in Chicago on Christmas Day, took place in the Long Beach Arena in Ca.
Dec. 13, 1971 – Disney’s “Bedknobs and Broomsticks,” starring Angela Lansbury, David Tomlinson, and Roddy McDowall was released in U.S. theaters.
Dec. 13, 1971 – Disney threw its Annual Family Christmas Party for “permanent” employees and their families at Disneyland.
