Nov. 29, 1972 – Carl W. Stalling, “the most famous unknown composer of the 20th century,” passed away. He wrote and arranged the music for countless early Disney productions such as “Plane Crazy” and “The Gallopin’ Gaucho.” At Disney, Stalling invented the “tick” method, a timing device that allows animators to set the tempo of the cartoons, so that the musicians can play along before the cartoon is even drawn. He was the first music director to extensively use the metronome to time scores. He also co-wrote the tune “Minnie’s Yoo Hoo!” with Walt Disney.
Nov. 29, 1987 – The Disney Sunday Movie aired part 1 of “Student Exchange.” (Part-2 aired Dec. 6, 1987)
Nov. 29, 1996 – Disney’s “Holiday Around the World” began in Epcot at WDW. (It would run through Dec. 30, 1996.)
Nov. 29, 1996 – Epcot’s “Candlelight Processional” began at WDW and would run through Dec. 24. The narrators included, Buzz Aldrin (Nov. 29-Dec.1), Barbara Eden, Dec. (6-8), Miss America Tara Dawn Holland (Dec. 9-12), Ed Asner (Dec. 13-15), Louis Gossett, Jr. (Dec. 16-19), Sandi Patty (Dec. 22-24).
Nov. 29, 1997 – The final phase of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort opened to guest. The first phase opened Aug. 1, 1997.
Nov. 29, 1999 – The 29th Annual “Candlelight Processional” began in Epcot at WDW. (Narrated by Alfre Woodard – Nov. 26 –28, and Charles Kimbrough – Nov. 29 – Dec. 1)
Nov. 29, 2001 – WDW premiered the first night of the annual event “Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party” in the Magic Kingdom. (Dates: Nov. 29,30, Dec. 2,6,7,9,11,13,14,16,18.)
Nov. 29, 2002 – The 32nd Annual Candlelight Processional began in Epcot at WDW.
Nov. 29, 2004 – It was reported “The Incredibles” had delivered Disney’s biggest single weekend ever at the international box office taking in $45.5 million.
Nov. 29, 2005 – Disney’s “Sky High” was released on DVD.
