Nov. 26, 1971 – The Orlando Evening Star ran the front page headline: “Monster Crowd Too Much For Mickey DISNEY GATES CLOSED’ traffic-choking crowds jam WDW to capacity on this day after Thanksgiving. Shortly before noon it was announced that the Florida park must close its gates to outside visitors.
Nov. 26, 1972 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired part 1 of “Chander, the Black Leopard of Ceylon.”
Nov. 26, 1976 – Disney aired “The Moonspinners” and “Prowlers of the Everglades” as a TV special.
Nov. 26, 1986 – The Disney Channel first aired “How to Haunt a Haunted House,” the 75th episode of “The Edison Twins.”
Nov. 26, 1987 – Tokyo Disneyland welcomed its 50-millionth guest.
Nov. 26, 1987 – The Disney TV Special “Disney’s Fluppy Dog’s” aired on ABC.
Nov. 26, 1997 – The Disney film “Flubber” was released.
Nov. 26, 1997 – The “Spectacle of Lights” lit up Disney-MGM Studios at WDW. (Ran through Jan. 4, 1998)
Nov. 26, 1998 – Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving” aired on ABC-TV.
Nov. 26, 2001 – The Walt Disney Co. reiterated its commitment to support U.S. troops at home and abroad, and assist’s in the nations relief and rebuilding programs. (Disney has become a USO World Sponsor providing more than $1 million in financial aid.)
